Frozen storage from three makers

Freezers on this page come from Coldline, Electrolux Professional and Foster. Coldline Master freezers hold -18/-22 °C and carry the Master Marine solutions variant, which Coldline describes as made for ships and oil and floating platforms. Electrolux Professional ecostore and Prostore marine freezers hold between -15 and -22 °C, and the Foster EP700L holds -18/-21 °C with marine legs, bulkhead brackets, a positive latch handle and marine shelves. The page also lists Coldline Master Combi cabinets that include a frozen compartment next to chilled or fish compartments.

Sizes and footprints

Coldline freezers use the same bodies as its refrigerators: 350 (334 litres gross, 535 mm wide), 500 (417 litres), 600 (512 litres), 650 (573 litres), 700 and 700 XL (601 litres, 740 mm), 1200 (1,155 litres) and 1400 (1,356 litres, 1,480 mm), all 2,085 mm high. Electrolux Prostore 500 and Prostore 800 freezers hold 470 and 720 litres on 600 and 900 mm widths, and ecostore freezers run from 670 to 1,430 litres, the largest 1,441 mm wide with GN 2/1 grids. The Foster EP700L holds 600 litres gross and 479.9 litres net in 700 mm.

Energy on the frozen side

Freezers draw far more than refrigerators of the same size, and the published figures show it. The Foster EP700L is grade B at 1,161 kWh a year, against 310 kWh for its EP700H refrigerator twin. Coldline plug-in freezers carry energy classes from C to E, and glass doors raise consumption further: the Coldline AS70/1BV is listed at 3,223 kWh a year against 1,938 kWh for the solid-door AS70/1B. On a vessel where generating capacity is shared with accommodation, those differences decide how many freezer positions a galley can support.

Defrost, refrigerant and remote units

Coldline freezers defrost by hot gas or electric heating, depending on the code. Plug-in freezers from all three brands use R290, classified A3, higher flammability, with charges published per model; the Coldline remote freezers run on R452a and need a remote condensing unit, which Coldline lists by type among the accessories. Electrolux Professional freezers are tropicalised and carry HACCP logging and network-connectable controls, and the Foster EP700L operates in ambient temperatures up to 43 °C.

Combination cabinets

Coldline Master Combi 700 and 1400 cabinets put a -18/-22 °C compartment next to a -2/+8 °C or -6/+4 °C compartment, or both, behind separate doors. The 700 body takes two half doors in 740 mm, and the 1400 body two or three doors in 1,480 mm. They suit galleys where two separate cabinets would not fit, at the cost of smaller volume in each compartment.
