Specifying marine water filter systems for ice makers

Why filter ice maker water

Ice is only as clean as the water it is made from. Hoshizaki 4HC-H cartridges are rated to NSF/ANSI Standard 42, Class 1, and reduce chlorine taste and the dirt and rust that cloud ice, while cutting scale in the ice maker.

Single, twin or triple

The single system passes up to 7.6 l/min and treats about 79,500 litres between changes, the twin 15.1 l/min and 159,000 litres, and the triple 22.7 l/min and 238,500 litres. Hoshizaki matches the size to the ice maker's daily output and names the filter on each ice maker's page. Installation kit FKITB fits the single system and FKITC the twin and triple.

On board

The ice maker draws on the vessel's potable water, so the filter is part of the ice maker installation; Hoshizaki does not recommend the 4HC-H for flakers.
