Specifying offshore galley equipment

Optima 850 and SkyLine on the hot line

The offshore selection keeps the heavier end of the catalogue. On the MKN side only the Optima 850 and HotLine lines are mapped, so FlexiChef, FlexiCombi, the compact combi steamers, Optima 700 and the CounterSL counter line are not part of it. Combi cooking therefore comes from Electrolux Professional SkyLine ovens: Premium and PremiumS with a steam generator, Pro and ProS boilerless, from 6 to 20 GN levels.
Every Electrolux Professional and every Miele product in the catalogue is mapped offshore, which is why Electrolux Professional, not MKN, supplies the largest share of this page.

Around-the-clock laundry

Accommodation on a platform or support vessel turns bedding and workwear over continuously, and laundry makes up about a fifth of this page. All 113 Miele laundry products are here: washer-extractors up to 35 kg, tumble dryers with drums up to 800 litres, and rotary ironers up to 2759 mm wide, the widest machines on the page.
The heaviest single machine offshore is a washer-extractor at 692 kg net rather than a cooking appliance, which puts the laundry floor near the top of the deck-loading list.

Hygiene in shared accommodation

Where crews rotate through shared cabins, the laundry is part of infection control as well as housekeeping. On this page 43 washer-extractors carry a disinfection programme, and 46 products, washer-extractors and Miele dishwashers, are listed as tested virucidal.
For the dryers, the choice between 36 air-vented and 6 heat-pump models is also an installation choice: a heat-pump dryer needs no exhaust duct through fire zones, only a condensate drain.

Supply, steam and energy management

440 V is well represented, with 107 products, and 60 Hz is named on more products than 50 Hz, 264 against 241, with 400 V still the most common single voltage. 28 products are steam heated, mostly boiling kettles, which is worth checking where the installation has steam available at the galley.
Energy management readiness appears on 153 products, useful where galley and laundry share generating capacity on a unit that runs every hour of the day.

Where the Ship page fits better

FlexiChef multifunctional pans, FlexiCombi combi steamers and the Optima 700 line are not mapped offshore. A support vessel that wants any of them should look at the Ship page instead, where 827 products are mapped; the CounterSL counter line and the compact combi steamers are on the Yacht and Boat pages. Accommodation-scale cold rooms, galley ventilation, ice machines, sinks and storage are not listed yet and belong to a separate scope.

Questions about offshore galley equipment

Which combi ovens are available for offshore galleys?

Electrolux Professional SkyLine ovens only: Premium and PremiumS with a steam generator and Pro and ProS boilerless, from 6 to 20 GN levels and up to 70.2 kW. MKN FlexiCombi and the compact Junior and SpaceCombi steamers are not in the offshore selection.

What laundry capacity is available for offshore accommodation?

Washer-extractors up to 35 kg, tumble dryers with drums up to 800 litres and rotary ironers up to 2759 mm wide, all from Miele and all listed as marine approved and offshore specified.

Are there offshore laundry machines with a disinfection programme?

Yes. 43 washer-extractors carry a disinfection programme, and 46 products, including Miele MasterLine and ProfiLine dishwashers, are listed as tested virucidal.

What supply voltages does offshore galley equipment come in?

400 V is the most common single voltage, with 107 products at 440 V and groups at 380–415 V and 230 V. 60 Hz is named on 264 products and 50 Hz on 241, so each data plate has to be matched to the installation.
