MKN Electric Griddle Plate 1221130 – Smooth, CounterSL

Ten point eight kilowatts into a 705 x 545 mm smooth plate gives the MKN 1221130 a concentrated cooking area within a single work zone. With an 800 x 700 x 270 mm body it occupies a full CounterSL module footprint while keeping the working height low over the deck.

On board, that 270 mm overall height defines how easily the unit can be built into a counter on a passenger deck or in a crew mess. A shallow 800 x 700 x 270 mm appliance leaves space below the worktop cut-out for any service runs the yard needs to route, and reduces the impact on undercounter storage volumes compared to a taller module. The 400 V connection can be allocated directly in the electrical load schedule and grouped with other CounterSL appliances on the same sub-board, so cable sizing and protection can be coordinated for this 10.8 kW demand.

The 705 x 545 mm working surface suits short-order duty where a single temperature across the plate is acceptable: a breakfast corner, a burger and snack station, or a compact crew servery. One work zone means one thermostatic setting for the entire plate, which simplifies operation in a front-of-house or semi-attended environment where the same person is cooking and serving. The defined working area also lets the designer plan extraction canopies and front shields around a known hot zone instead of guessing at heat spread. In a refit, the 800 x 700 mm footprint makes it a straightforward swap into an existing CounterSL cut-out if an older plate is being replaced.

Net weight is 80 kg with a gross weight of 89 kg. These figures are useful for calculating deck loading under a cut-out and for specifying any reinforcement or support rails under the counter body. An 80 kg installed mass in this footprint is also light enough that a small team can manoeuvre the unit into place without heavy lifting equipment, but still substantial enough to sit securely in the counter once fixed. For the electrical design, the 10.8 kW rating at 400 V should be treated as a continuous duty load in the section of the distribution board feeding the CounterSL run, especially where several 10.8 kW modules may sit side by side.

This unit is the right choice where a single smooth plate in an 800 x 700 mm footprint is sufficient and where the 270 mm-high CounterSL body can be integrated cleanly into a counter design. It is the wrong choice for a main galley production line that needs several independently controlled work zones or a plate texture other than smooth; those cases call for larger bodies in other MKN series rather than a low-height counter module. It is also not the best fit where the menu requires multiple temperature regimes on one surface rather than a single 705 x 545 mm zone.
