Fourteen kilowatts of connected load on a 500 x 850 mm footprint gives this Optima 850 induction table real cooking density. With 7 kW available per heating zone across a 340 x 690 mm working surface, it is sized for heavy pans rather than tasting pots.
On a ship this ratio of power to deck area matters. Galley footprints are fixed at the design stage, and every extra module added to a line has to earn its space in throughput. A 63 kg net weight keeps the unit straightforward to position on a plinth or flanged feet, while the 700 mm body height ties into the rest of the Optima 850 corpus so pans move cleanly between modules. The 400 V supply rating aligns with a standard three-phase service rather than a domestic shore connection, which simplifies integration into a marine switchboard specified at build.
The working surface is a 6 mm glass-ceramic top, flush with the surrounding worktop. That removes steps and dirt traps at the edge of the hob, and lets stockpots slide from adjacent Optima 850 modules rather than being lifted. Radiused plate corners and graphically marked heating zones make it clear where heat is being delivered, while keeping internal corners easy to clean at the end of a watch. Stainless steel 1.4301 (AISI 304) throughout the body gives the expected corrosion resistance in a hot, damp galley space, as long as the usual cleaning regime is observed.
Each of the two zones is fed by high-output induction generators. With 7 kW per heating zone there is headroom for fast heat-up on large-base pans without tying several smaller plates together. Electronic pan detection from a 12 cm base diameter prevents power from being delivered into an empty zone, which is both a safety and an energy item. PT 1000-based overheating protection provides a defined cut-out point if a dry pan or blocked airflow pushes a component past its design temperature.
Build and control
• Complies with DIN 18851 for commercial kitchens
• Stainless steel 1.4301 (AISI 304) throughout
• Self-supporting closed construction
• 6 mm glass-ceramic top, flush with the worktop
• Radiused plate corners for easy cleaning; heating zones graphically marked
• Ergonomic knob control
• Heated by high-output induction generators
• High efficiency, low energy consumption
• Electronic pan detection from 12 cm base diameter
• PT 1000 overheating protection
This model is the right choice where an Optima 850 line needs concentrated induction power in a single 500 mm module and the electrical reserve for 14 kW is available. It is less suited to a pantry or servery that only reheats or holds, where a lower-output or smaller-body induction unit would free electrical and deck capacity for other equipment.
