MKN Steam Boiling Kettle 10019200 – Electric, Optima 850

Sixty litres of usable volume on a Ø 500 x 378 mm round vessel defines the 10019200 steam boiling kettle in the Optima 850 line. With a rated thermal load of 23 kW and a quoted heat-up time of 17 min, it is built for rapid batches rather than long holding.

On a ship this combination of capacity and footprint is often the main production kettle in a compact galley. The 1100 x 850 x 700 mm body fits into an Optima 850 block without disturbing the line, while the 60 litres of capacity serve a crew size where several cooks work a single cooking suite. The steam pressure band of 0,5 - 0,8 is part of that balance: enough jacket performance to meet the 17 min heat-up figure, yet still controllable for simmering without scorching.

The dimensions and weight figures matter early in the design. At 1100 x 850 x 700 mm and a net weight of 174 kg (209 kg gross), the kettle occupies a defined area and load on the deck, which the yard can factor into foundations and coamings. A single work zone keeps operation straightforward; one kettle body, one heating load, one set of controls. The pivot-mounted vessel, adjustable left and right within the frame, works with the far-forward pivot point so that when the kettle is tilted, product leaves the Ø 500 mm opening in a controlled sheet rather than surging.

The double-walled hinged lid on a swivel joint provides insulation and a predictable movement when opening and closing, which reduces condensate drift into the galley. A condensate drip strip takes that moisture back into the vessel instead of onto the worktop. The listed heat-up time of 17 min depends on the 23 kW load and the 0,5 - 0,8 steam pressure in the jacket; those three values are linked, and a designer planning electrical and HVAC loads can treat them as a single package. Product temperature control is built in, so the kettle runs to a setpoint rather than leaving the operator to guess from steam valve position.
