Thirty kilograms of flatwork per hour at 15% residual moisture is the stated capacity of the Miele PRI 210. The 1,000 mm working width on a 210 mm roller gives a compact footprint that still clears a steady stream of cabin and galley linen aboard.

On a vessel, that throughput has to sit inside the electrical, structural and HVAC limits of the laundry. The PRI 210 connects at 3N AC 400V 50–60HZ, with an electric heater rating of 4.5 kW and a total connected load of 5 kW, protected on a 16 A fuse. Those numbers need a dedicated way off the ship’s 400 V distribution, and they need to be in the switchboard schedule at design stage. Heat dissipation of 4.5 MJ/h goes straight into the room; in a closed laundry that load lands on the ventilation and chilled water plant, not on an open window.

The controlled ironing speed range is 1.5 to 4 m/min. At 1.5 m/min the linen sees more dwell time on the 210 mm roller for thicker pieces; at 4 m/min the operator can move lighter work through quickly while staying inside the 30 kg/h figure at 15% residual moisture. Touch display control and defined programme parameters mean those settings are repeatable between crews instead of being guessed each watch. Emission sound pressure at ≤70 dB(A) re 20 µPa keeps noise at a level where staff can work alongside the ironer without shouting over it.

Physically, the PRI 210 stands 1032 mm high, 1579 mm wide and 476 mm deep, with a net weight of 122 kg. For routing through doors and hatches, the gross transport dimensions increase to 1374 mm in height, 1763 mm in width and 660 mm in depth, with a gross weight of 136 kg. Maximum floor load is 1220 N; that figure can be checked against deck loading data instead of assuming the structure will take the point load. Tested operating hours of 20000 and a recycling rate of 98% help when planning lifecycle cost and end-of-service removal on a vessel where dry dock time is limited.

The roller build uses supple steel wool padding under an ARAMID needle-felt cloth ironer cover, giving a stable contact surface across the full 1,000 mm working width. The outer casing in iron grey suits both back-of-house laundries and visible crew or self-service spaces. The machine is specified for offshore installations and specified and approved for shipboard use, so its behaviour in a marine environment has been addressed at design and test rather than left to the installer. Prepared-for-payment functionality allows the same ironer to serve in a self-service crew laundry where usage needs to be metered.

This unit is the right choice where flatwork volume matches a 30 kg/h machine and where about 5 kW of electrical capacity and 4.5 MJ/h of heat gain can be allocated to ironing. It is the wrong choice where the laundry routinely exceeds that throughput and really needs either a wider roller or multiple ironers, or where a 3N AC 400V 50–60HZ, 16 A supply cannot be provided.
