104 kg of laundry per hour at 25% residual moisture sets the PRI 418 in the upper range of shipboard rotary ironers. That throughput is delivered over a 1,750 mm working width with a 365 mm roller diameter, so the machine is sized for main linen production rather than a small crew-only laundry.

On board, that capacity has to be balanced against space, heat and power. The PRI 418 stands 1,110 mm high, 2,469 mm wide and 1,441 mm deep, which is a substantial footprint for a laundry on a vessel. The connected load is 22 kW on a 3 AC 400 V 50–60 Hz supply, with a 50 A fuse rating, so it needs a planned position on the ship’s distribution board. Heat dissipation into the room is specified at 12.6 MJ/h; in an enclosed laundry this figure feeds directly into the HVAC calculation. Maximum floor load is 4,356 N at a net weight of 444 kg, giving naval architects a clear number to work with for deck loading.

The machine is specified for offshore installations and approved for shipboard use, which is backed by a tested operating life of 20,000 hours. Laundry infeed is at the front and outfeed at the back, so workflow planning must allow space behind the ironer for a second operator or stacking area. At 50% residual moisture, ironing performance is still 63 kg/h, which gives flexibility on upstream washer extraction without overloading the ironer. The minimum and maximum ironing speeds are controlled between 1.5 and 5.4 m/min, allowing the operator to match belt speed to linen type and staffing.

The PRI 418 uses leaf-spring padding under an ARAMID needle-felt cloth ironer cover, designed to maintain contact quality over its 1,750 mm working width. Electric heater rating is 21.4 kW within the 22 kW total connected load, so almost all the electrical input goes into heating the roller. Emission sound pressure level at the workplace is quoted at 56 dB(A) re 20 µPa, which is relatively low for a high-capacity ironer and makes a difference in a confined shipboard laundry. Outer casing in iron grey and a recycling rate of 98% are secondary to function but relevant where the vessel has sustainability reporting requirements.

The PRI 418 is the right choice where the vessel carries significant flatwork volume and can justify 22 kW of ironing capacity with 12.6 MJ/h of heat added to the room. It is less suitable for a small crew vessel or a yacht laundry where throughput is modest and space behind the machine for rear outfeed is limited.
