With a specific energy consumption of 0.51 kWh/kg and a maximum evaporation capacity of 7.4 litres per hour, it is sized for steady, repeated cycles in a ship’s laundry rather than occasional cabin use.

On board, the 3 AC 230 V 50/60 Hz electrical connection and 8.2 kW total connected load need to be reconciled with the vessel’s distribution. The 25 A fuse rating is a concrete value for the electrical team, and the maximum floor load of 853 N gives the naval architect a simple check against deck scantlings. Heat dissipation into the room is quoted at 3.9 MJ/h, so the HVAC designer can quantify how much of the laundry’s cooling and make-up air budget this single dryer consumes.

The cabinet stands 1020 mm high, 700 mm wide and 763 mm deep; gross shipping dimensions of 1215 × 760 × 820 mm matter where the unit has to pass through doors or hatches. Net weight is 72 kg, gross 80 kg, so handling can be planned without specialist lifting equipment on most vessels. This front loader comes from the Benchmark series in the Performance Plus range, with front and fascia in stainless steel. In a marine laundry exposed to detergents and disinfectants, the stainless front is easier to keep visually clean than coated panels. Noise emission is quoted at 50 dB(A) re 20 µPa at the workplace, which helps where the laundry shares space with other plant or is adjacent to accommodation. Recycling rate is stated at 90 %, so most of the 72 kg machine mass can be recovered at end of life under a structured waste-management plan.

Loading examples in the data sheet show how varied the work can be in service: 4 respirator masks and 1 overall, or 2 over jackets, or 182 cloths at 22 g each, or 42 cotton mops at 40 cm, or 66 microfibre mops at 40 cm. The same 180 litre drum also accepts 36 cotton mops at 50 cm, 47 microfibre mops at 50 cm, 100 office mops at 100 g, 67 stairway mops at 150 g, or 2 summer horse blankets. For cabin linen, the guidance covers 1 synthetic duvet with 2 synthetic pillows or 1 down duvet with 2 down pillows per cycle. That range is useful when housekeeping and technical departments share one machine.

The PDR 910 [EL SOM] is a good fit where an exhaust-air dryer around 8 to 10 kg, with 36 minute cycles and residual-moisture-controlled M Touch Pro programming, matches the laundry profile. It is the wrong choice where an exhaust-air duct cannot be installed or where the ship’s supply cannot provide 3 AC 230 V 50/60 Hz at 8.2 kW on a 25 A circuit; in those cases a different dryer concept from the same marine programme is required.
