An 18 kg rated load at a 1:18 ratio in a 325 litre drum puts the PDR 918 into the upper Benchmark size class without going to a full laundry-room roller bank. On a ship this matters where space is tight but a single cycle still has to clear up to 18 kg of cottons in 23 minutes.

The machine is specified and approved for shipboard use and for offshore installations, and it is ordered in this variant for a 3 AC 400V 50/60HZ supply. That removes the need for onboard adaptation between shore and vessel frequencies. A maximum evaporation capacity of 18.5 litres per hour with an exhaust-air system means the duct sizing and makeup air requirement have to be part of the galley or laundry design, not a late add-on, and the 4.5 MJ/h heat dissipation into the room belongs in the HVAC calculation.

On the laundry side, the published loading figures give a concrete feel for capacity: at a 1:25 load ratio the drum takes 13 kg, and the same 325 litres will handle items such as 12 respirator masks, 2 overalls or 3 over jackets in a single batch. For cabin textiles, a cycle can carry 1 synthetic duvet and 3 synthetic pillows, or 1 down duvet and 3 down pillows. Cleaning operations are covered as well, with capacities such as 295 cloths at 22 g, 68 cotton mops at 40 cm or 108 microfibre mops at 40 cm.

Installed electrical power is 18.6 kW with an 18 kW electric heater and a 35 A fuse rating. Net weight is 173.5 kg with a maximum floor load of 2212 N, which gives the naval architect a clear number to check against deck loading limits. External dimensions are 1400 mm high, 906 mm wide and 1035 mm deep, increasing to 1526 x 1090 x 1125 mm gross for transport and access planning. The door opens through 180 degrees on a left hinge with a 520 mm diameter opening, which simplifies loading of bulkier items like 3 summer horse blankets.

The control side is built around the M Touch Pro system, fully programmable and residual moisture controlled. With a specific energy consumption of 0.52 kWh/kg, cycles are monitored and ended on target moisture rather than time only, and the remaining cycle time display makes it easier to schedule work in a small shipboard laundry. The quoted service life is 40000 drying cycles, and a recycling rate of 94 % supports end-of-life planning where waste streams are scrutinised.

This unit is a good fit where a vessel needs Benchmark-class throughput in a compact footprint and already has provision for exhaust ducting and make-up air. It is the wrong choice where hull penetrations for exhaust air are constrained or where a ventless condensate drain solution is mandated.
