This Benchmark Performance Plus front loader is specified and approved for shipboard use and specified for offshore installations under the PWM 912 [EL DV DD SOM] designation. Electrical connection is 3 AC 230V 60HZ with a total connected load of 9.6 kW and a 9 kW heavy-duty heater element, protected by a 35 A fuse rating. Maximum floor load is 4483 N with a net weight of 287 kg, so the deck structure and foundations can be checked directly against published numbers. Heat dissipation into the room is 6.48 MJ/h and emission sound pressure level at the workplace is 65 dB(A) re 20 µPa, both relevant in a compact, enclosed laundry.

Where fresh water and energy are constrained, the published consumptions become design values. On a standard programme with a cold water connection the PWM 912 uses 6.2 l/kg, totalling 74.4 l per cycle at 0.14 kWh/kg and 1.68 kW per cycle; the equivalent with a hot water connection is 5.9 l/kg and 70.8 l at 0.06 kWh/kg and 0.72 kW. ECO programmes bring that to 69.6 l and 1.2 kW on cold water, or 68.4 l and 0.36 kW on hot. Programme duration is 49 minutes with cold water and 42 minutes with combined cold and hot water; in ECO those figures are 34 and 31 minutes respectively. For the Mops standard 60 °C programme, water and energy are listed separately: 142.2 l and 2.5 kWh on cold, 139.9 l and 1 kWh on hot, with running times of 54 and 47 minutes.

On fabrics the capacity examples are explicit. The drum is rated for 289 cloths at 22 g each, 64 cotton mops at 40 cm / 190 g, 56 cotton mops at 50 cm / 220 g, or 100 microfibre mops at 40 cm / 120 g and 72 microfibre mops at 50 cm / 170 g. It also lists 120 office mops at 100 g, 80 stairway mops at 150 g and two summer horse blankets. For PPE, the loading chart states 10 respirator masks, 3 helmets, 2 overalls, 3 over jackets, 1 chemical protection suit, 1 synthetic duvet, 2 synthetic pillows, 1 down duvet and 2 down pillows per cycle. Those figures set throughput for a vessel that has to turn around cloths, linen and protective gear on a fixed watch pattern, and connect directly to the independently tested virucidal efficacy, verified hygiene performance and thermal disinfection rinse programme.

On the installation side the machine connects via three cold water inlets (3 x 1/2" hose with 3/4" union), one hot water inlet (1 x 1/2" hose with 3/4" threaded union) and two optional hard-water connections (2 x 1/2" with 3/4" union). External dimensions are 1350 x 799 x 924 mm (H x W x D), with gross shipping dimensions of 1475 x 1090 x 1130 mm and a gross weight of 306 kg. Recycling rate is quoted at 91%.

This unit suits a ship’s laundry that must process mixed cabin linen, cleaning textiles and PPE to a documented hygiene standard within programme durations between 31 and 54 minutes on the quoted cycles. It is the wrong choice where batch sizes are routinely far below the 12 kg design load or where space cannot accommodate a 799 mm wide, 924 mm deep body at a 4483 N maximum floor load.
