Sixteen kilograms at a 1:9 load ratio on a 140 litre drum defines the PWM 916 as a large Benchmark Performance Plus washer for marine and offshore laundries. At 1120 rpm with a g‑factor of 502 it leaves laundry at 46% residual moisture on a cold rinse and 42% on a hot rinse, so the dryer load that follows each cycle is predictable.

The unit is specified and approved for shipboard use and specified for offshore installations, so it is intended for spaces where deck area, services and access are constrained but duty is continuous. Heat dissipation into the room is 6.48 MJ/h and the emission sound pressure level at the workplace is 65 dB(A) re 20 µPa, giving HVAC and acoustic designers concrete values for their calculations. Maximum floor load is 5424 N at a net weight of 371 kg, so deck structure can be checked against a published point load instead of estimated.

Cycle and consumption data are detailed enough to plan fresh water and energy budgets. On the standard 60 °C programme with cold water connection, the PWM 916 uses 99.2 litres and 2.24 kWh over a 49 minute programme duration. With hot water connection, the same programme takes 94.4 litres and 0.96 kWh in 43 minutes. The mops standard 60 °C programme is heavier: with cold water it draws 182.2 litres and 3.21 kWh over 53 minutes, and with hot water 178.1 litres and 1.33 kWh over 47 minutes. ECO trims those numbers where throughput allows — with cold water 92.8 litres and 1.6 kWh in 34 minutes, and with hot water 91.2 litres and 0.48 kWh in 32 minutes. Specific water consumption is 6.2 l/kg on cold and 5.9 l/kg on hot, with corresponding specific energy consumption of 0.14 kWh/kg and 0.06 kWh/kg.

Water connections are sized for professional plant: three cold water inlets via 3 x 1/2" hoses with 3/4" unions, one hot water inlet on a 1/2" hose with 3/4" threaded union, and an optional hard water connection via 2 x 1/2" with 3/4" unions. Externally the stainless steel front‑loader body stands 1450 x 924 x 835 mm (H x W x D), with a 415 mm door opening, 180 degree door opening angle and right‑hand hinge. Gross dimensions of 1585 x 1090 x 1130 mm define the clearances needed to route the 391 kg gross package through doors and corridors during installation. Tested operating hours of 30000 and a recycling rate of 92% support lifecycle planning alongside first‑fit procurement.

The control system is M Touch Pro Plus and is freely programmable, which suits operators who standardise programmes across a fleet or site. Independently tested virucidal efficacy, verified hygiene performance, a thermal disinfection rinse programme and continuous wash temperature monitoring underpin infection control where PPE and healthcare textiles are involved. EcoSpeed wash rhythm reduces water use, while three-dimensional imbalance monitoring protects the suspension at 1120 rpm. The published loading examples make the 16 kg rating concrete for planning: 355 cloths at 22 g, 82 cotton mops at 40 cm / 190 g, 71 cotton mops at 50 cm / 220 g, or 160 office mops at 100 g per cycle. For PPE, one load can take 13 respirator masks, 4 helmets, 2 overalls, 3 over jackets and 1 chemical protection suit, or be configured around the stated mixes of synthetic duvets, synthetic pillows, down duvets, down pillows and 3 summer horse blankets.

This machine is the right choice where a vessel or offshore unit has a continuous flow of linens, mops and PPE and needs documented disinfection at 16 kg scale on a 3 AC 230 V 60 Hz supply. It is the wrong choice for a laundry with a very small daily volume or insufficient electrical capacity for a 14.6 kW connection and 50 A fuse rating, where a smaller body and lower connected load should be specified instead.
