Twenty-seven kilograms at a 1:9 load ratio in a 240 l drum places the PWM 927 at the upper end of single-machine shipboard and offshore laundry. Spinning at 1100 rpm with a g factor of 541, it delivers 46% residual moisture after a cold rinse, 41% after a hot rinse, and takes cleaning cloths down to 10%.

On board, those residual moisture figures set the dryer demand and the size of the laundry’s bottleneck. Linen leaving the washer at 41% reduces dryer time and electrical load, and the published 4.7 MJ/h heat dissipation into the room gives the HVAC designer a fixed input when balancing a closed laundry against the ship’s chilled-water and ventilation plant. Tested for 30000 operating hours, the machine is aimed at continuous-duty laundries that turn mops, PPE and cabin linen through multiple shifts.

Specific water consumption is 7.4 l/kg on a cold-water connection and 7.3 l/kg on hot water, with corresponding specific energy figures of 0.22 kWh/kg and 0.06 kWh/kg. On a full 27 kg load this gives 201 l per cycle on cold and 197.9 l on hot, with energy consumption of 5.9 kW on cold water and 1.61 kW on hot. For vessels producing fresh water on board, the ECO programme figures – 193.5 l on cold water and 190.2 l on hot water with energy consumption of 4.48 kW and 0.58 kW respectively – are often what daily water and power planning rests on.

Cycle times are in the same range as the consumption numbers. Standard programmes run for 57 minutes with a cold-water connection and 47 minutes with both cold and hot connected, while the ECO programme takes 42 minutes on cold and 34 minutes on combined cold and hot. The Mops standard 60 °C programme runs for 57 minutes on cold water and 48 minutes on hot, which matters where 142 cotton mops at 40 cm / 190 g or 225 microfibre mops at 40 cm / 120 g are processed on each cycle.

The PWM 927 is electrically heated with a 24 kW heater rating and a total connected load of 25.6 kW. Electrical connection is 3 AC 230V 60HZ with an 80 A fuse rating, so switchboard capacity, breaker selection and cable sizing need to be confirmed early. Water supply is via 4 cold inlets of 1/2" with 3/4" unions, 2 hot inlets of 1/2" with 3/4" unions, and 2 optional hard water connections of 1/2" with 3/4" unions, allowing separation of softened, hot and hard feeds where the vessel’s water system supports it.

External dimensions are 1646 mm high, 1090 mm wide and 1226 mm deep. The right-hinged door opens 180 degrees on a 415 mm diameter aperture, which is relevant when loading items such as 620 cloths at 22 g, 3 synthetic duvets, 4 summer horse blankets or mixed PPE sets including 19 respirator masks and 6 helmets in a single batch. Net weight is 677 kg with a maximum floor load of 9375 N; those values have to be checked against deck scantlings, particularly if the laundry is above accommodation.

This unit fits a vessel or offshore installation that can support a 25.6 kW, 3 AC 230V 60HZ connection, has structure for a 9375 N floor load, and needs to clear high volumes of PPE, mops, cloths and mixed textiles in the 27 kg class. It is the wrong choice for laundries with limited electrical capacity, very low daily throughput or restrictive floor loading, where a smaller machine in the same series is easier to feed and to site.
