Twenty‑eight kilograms at a 1:18 load ratio in a 500 litre drum puts the PDR 928 into the heavy end of the Benchmark Performance Plus range for a shipboard laundry. With a quoted 24 minute programme duration under residual moisture control, it is aimed at fast, repeatable batches rather than occasional single garments.

This variant is specified and approved for shipboard use and for offshore installations, so it has been ordered with the electrical and mechanical options aligned to those environments. The electrical connection is 3 AC 440V 50/60HZ with a total connected load of 28.2 kW, an electric heater rating of 31.8 kW and a fuse rating of 50 A. Those figures need to be reconciled with the vessel’s available capacity and any peak‑load management strategy; the ability to tie the machine into a peak‑load or energy management system is there to support exactly that.

Construction is a front loader in the Benchmark series with a stainless steel front. External dimensions are 1640 mm high, 1206 mm wide and 1019 mm deep, so the laundry plan has to respect 1206 mm of width for loading and service, and allow the depth clear of bulkheads. Gross dimensions of 1766 × 1390 × 1108 mm and a gross weight of 258 kg are the transport envelope, while the net weight of 243.3 kg and maximum floor load of 3044 N are the figures a naval architect will check against deck scantlings. Heat dissipation into the room is defined at 3.3 MJ/h, so in a closed laundry that load goes straight into the HVAC calculation.

The drying system is exhaust air, so the exhaust duct and hull penetration need to be agreed early with the yard. Emission sound pressure level in the workplace is 58 dB(A) re 20 µPa, low enough that this unit will not dominate the acoustic environment of a multi‑machine laundry. Service life is specified at 40000 drying cycles and specific energy consumption at 0.51 kWh/kg, which allows an operator to estimate lifetime energy and maintenance exposure against a projected daily kilogram throughput.

Loading geometry is generous: the door opening is 520 mm in diameter with a 180 degree opening angle and a left‑hand hinge. That supports bulky work such as 2 synthetic duvets and 3 synthetic pillows, 2 down duvets and 5 down pillows, or 3 summer horse blankets. For workwear and cleaning textiles, the published loading examples allow standardisation by count rather than guesswork: 12 respirator masks, 3 overalls, 5 over jackets, 545 cloths at 22 g, 266 office mops at 100 g, 178 stairway mops at 150 g, 167 microfibre mops at 40 cm, 118 microfibre mops at 50 cm and 91 cotton mops at 50 cm. The 20 kg capacity at a 1:25 load ratio is the planning figure when the ship’s laundry has to balance drum filling against handling time.

Control is via the M Touch Pro system, programmable and residual‑moisture controlled, so the cycle runs to a target dryness instead of a fixed time only. That matters where items such as respirator masks and technical mops have to be dried uniformly without overheating and then repeated for up to 40000 cycles.
