A 12 kg load on a 1:9 ratio and a 110 l drum puts the Miele PWM 912 into the main laundry slot on a vessel that can keep it charged with work. With a spin speed of 1,205 rpm and a g-factor of 504, residual moisture comes down to 46 % on a cold rinse, 42 % on a hot rinse and 25 % when processing cleaning cloths, which shortens dryer and ironer time.

For a naval architect the hard constraints are mass, footprint, floor load, electrical and heat into the room. Net weight is 289 kg, with a maximum floor load of 4,502 N. External dimensions are 1,350 mm high, 799 mm wide and 924 mm deep, while the gross shipping envelope of 1,475 × 1,090 × 1,130 mm and a gross weight of 308 kg need checking against doors and lifts on the way into the laundry. The unit dissipates 6.48 MJ/h into the room and publishes an emission sound pressure level of 65 dB(A) re 20 µPa, both figures that feed straight into HVAC and acoustic calculations for an enclosed space.

Electrically the machine is specified for a 3 AC 440 V 60 HZ connection with a total connected load of 8.8 kW and an 8.2 kW heater rating on a 16 A fuse. That matches common shipboard distribution without a transformer. On the water side, three cold-water inlets are provided (3 x 1/2" hose with 3/4" union), alongside one hot-water inlet (1 x 1/2" hose with 3/4" threaded union) and provision for two hard-water connections as an option (2 x 1/2" with 3/4" union). Programme control is via the M Touch Pro Plus system, freely programmable, so cycles can be tailored to the mix of cotton mops, cloths and workwear listed in the loading examples.

Water and energy figures are published for standard, ECO and Mops cycles on both cold and hot feeds. With a cold-water connection the specific water consumption is 6.2 l/kg and specific energy 0.14 kWh/kg, which at 12 kg gives 74.4 l and 1.68 kW per standard cycle over 49 minutes. With a hot-water feed, specific consumption drops to 5.9 l/kg and 0.06 kWh/kg, giving 70.8 l and 0.72 kW over 42 minutes. In the ECO programme the machine uses 69.6 l and 1.2 kW on cold water over 34 minutes, or 68.4 l and 0.36 kW with hot water over 31 minutes. The Mops standard 60 °C programme is quoted at 142.2 l and 2.5 kWh from cold over 54 minutes, or 139.9 l and 1 kWh from hot over 47 minutes, with 25 % residual moisture when processing cleaning cloths.

Tested operating hours are stated at 30,000 and the recycling rate at 91 %, so the machine is clearly aimed at a long service life and structured end-of-life handling rather than light-duty, intermittent use. The door opening diameter is 415 mm with a 180° opening angle and a right-hand hinge, which fixes the swing space when planning rows of machines against bulkheads or partitions.

This unit is the right choice where a laundry can regularly assemble 12 kg batches of linen, mops or workwear and where 3 AC 440 V 60 HZ at 8.8 kW with a 4,502 N floor rating is available. It is the wrong choice for a small crew laundry with occasional, much smaller loads, because every cycle commits 69.6–142.2 l of water and the corresponding energy figures and will never exploit its 30,000 tested operating hours.
