470 liter gross capacity in a 600 x 700 mm footprint is the starting point for the Prostore 500 freezer 691388. Inside that body the usable net volume is 317 lt, organised on four 520 x 442 mm grids, so the space is sized for boxed frozen stores rather than GN pans.

On a vessel the external height of 2040 mm and the 1226 mm depth with the door open matter as much as the footprint, because the cabinet has to clear the deckhead and still let the door swing fully without hitting an opposite bulkhead or island. Internal dimensions of 472 x 582 x 1474 mm set the loading envelope. The door-side working aisle has to be planned to accept the 1226 mm open depth, otherwise the cabinet will never be used as designed.

The operating temperature band is −22 to −15 °C on ventilated cooling. That is the range the cabinet is specified to hold in tropicalised conditions, so the refrigeration system is dimensioned to keep frozen product in a hot provision store or galley ante-room. Refrigeration power is quoted at 568 W at an evaporation temperature of −30 °C, with a 3/4 hp compressor and a built-in cooling unit, which keeps the plant self-contained instead of relying on a remote rack. Refrigerant is R290, with a 125 g charge: that combination of a hydrocarbon refrigerant and small charge size is part of the risk assessment and classification conversation with the yard, not something to leave to commissioning.

Construction is AISI 304 stainless steel inside and out, with rounded internal corners for cleaning. The cabinet sits on height-adjustable feet, 15/40 mm, which is the small amount of tolerance often needed to pick up an uneven deck or align to adjacent furniture. There are 44 shelf positions at a 22 mm pitch, so the four supplied grids can be set up with tight spacing when product is shallow, or spread to take tall cartons without wasted air volume. One full door closes the front, and the lockable specification is a stock-control feature as much as a hygiene one on a multi-shift vessel.

Defrost is electric, with hot-gas defrost water evaporation, so there is no drain line to route or trap to maintain beneath the cabinet. The hidden evaporator preserves usable internal depth and keeps the coil out of the direct cleaning and loading zone, which reduces mechanical damage over time. Digital control, HACCP data logging and network connectivity give the crew and superintendent a temperature history tied to the cabinet rather than to a manual logbook.

This Prostore 500 is a good fit for a galley or provision store needing a tall, narrow frozen cabinet on a 220-230 V/1 ph/50 Hz supply, where 317 lt of net volume is enough and the deck can accept a 2040 mm height. It is the wrong choice for a space constrained by low headroom or where frozen storage must be on GN 2/1 grids; in those cases a shorter or GN-specific cabinet from the wider range should be considered.
