The Hoshizaki KM-140C-HC is a self-contained air-cooled crescent ice maker producing up to 138 kg of crescent ice in 24 hours, with a 55 kg built-in storage bin.

Performance and connections

The KM-140C-HC measures 630 × 719 × 1,194 mm (W × D × H) without legs (for legs add 139-162 mm) and weighs 69 kg net. Electrical consumption is 0.56 kW and heat rejection 1.45 kW at 32 °C ambient and 21 °C water, with 0.45 m³ of water used per 24 hours. The KM-140C-HC runs on 110 g of R290, GWP 3. R290 is a natural refrigerant classified A3, higher flammability, so the charge belongs in the installation specification. Hoshizaki gives operating limits of ambient temperatures from 7 to 38 °C, water supply temperatures from 7 to 32 °C and water pressure from 0.7 to 8 bar, which is what the space and the vessel's fresh water system have to meet for the KM-140C-HC. Being air-cooled, it rejects its heat into the space, so the ventilation of the galley or bar has to take it. For water treatment Hoshizaki pairs it with the 4HC-H single water filter system and its 4HC replacement cartridges.
