The Hoshizaki KM-40C-HC-W is a self-contained air-cooled crescent ice maker producing up to 43 kg of crescent ice in 24 hours, with a 16 kg built-in storage bin.

Technical data

The KM-40C-HC-W measures 452 × 610 × 838 mm (W × D × H) without legs (legs add 144-167mm) and weighs 39 kg net. Electrical consumption is 0.22 kW and heat rejection 0.58 kW at 32 °C ambient and 21 °C water, with 0.25 m³ of water used per 24 hours. The KM-40C-HC-W runs on 68 g of R290, GWP 3. R290 is a natural refrigerant classified A3, higher flammability, so the charge belongs in the installation specification. Installing it on a vessel

Hoshizaki gives operating limits of ambient temperatures from 7 to 38 °C, water supply temperatures from 7 to 32 °C and water pressure from 0.7 to 8 bar, which is what the space and the vessel's fresh water system have to meet for the KM-40C-HC-W. Being air-cooled, it rejects its heat into the space, so the ventilation of the galley or bar has to take it. For water treatment Hoshizaki pairs it with the 4HC-H single water filter system and its 4HC replacement cartridges.
