Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-130APE-U-23 – Modular, Air-cooled, 100 kg/24h, M Cube

The IM-130APE-U-23 is a modular cube head. It makes up to 100 kg of cubes a day but has no bin of its own, so it is always ordered with a storage bin (Hoshizaki lists the B-140SB, B-210SB, B-340SB). Averaged out, the machine turns out about 4.2 kg an hour.

Choosing the version

The version suffix tells you what is inside: the IM-130APE-U-23 is the UltraCUBE and comes with UV-C sanitization of the water tank. The UV-C lamp keeps the standing water in the tank treated between cleanings of this 100 kg/day machine. You get M cubes, 28 x 28 x 23 mm, at 100 kg a day, marked by the -23 in the code. The same machine also comes as IM-130APE-23 (Basic Cube). Other cube sizes: IM-130APE-U (L cube, 125 kg a day).

Power, water and size

Footprint is 560 x 700 mm with a height of 880 mm; net weight is 62 kg. Power draw is 0.585 kW on single-phase 220-240 V 50 Hz, within ±6%, on a 5 A breaker. At 32 °C room temperature it releases 1.38 kW of heat. Daily water use is 660 liters, or roughly 6.6 liters for every kilo of ice. The IM-130APE-U-23 runs on 130 g of R290, which is propane (safety class A3), so the charge belongs on the installation paperwork. Hoshizaki lists automated cleaning and UV-C sanitization for the IM-130APE-U-23.

Fitting it on a vessel

Keep the room around the IM-130APE-U-23 between 1 and 40 °C and the incoming water between 5 and 35 °C at 0.7 to 8 bar. The condenser blows about 1.38 kW of warm air into the room, which a bar with poor ventilation will notice. For water treatment, fit the 4HC-H twin filter ahead of the IM-130APE-U-23.
