Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-130CPE-23 – Self-Contained, Air-cooled, 103 kg/24h, M Cube

Hoshizaki rates the IM-130CPE-23 at 103 kg of cubes per day. The ice drops into a 38 kg bin inside the same air-cooled cabinet. Averaged out, the machine turns out about 4.3 kg an hour. An empty 38 kg bin fills in roughly 8.9 hours at that rate.

Choosing the version

Hoshizaki sells the IM-130CPE in four versions, and this one, the Basic Cube, has no drain pump and no UV-C unit. Each cube from the IM-130CPE-23 is 28 x 28 x 23 mm (size M), marked by the -23 in the code. The same machine also comes as IM-130CPE-U-23 (UltraCUBE). Other cube sizes: IM-130CPE (L cube, 108 kg a day) and IM-130CPE-32 (XL cube, 116 kg a day).

Power, water and size

Footprint is 1,004 x 600 mm with a height of 700 mm before legs (add 100mm); net weight is 80 kg. It draws 0.585 kW from a single-phase 220-240 V 50 Hz supply, within ±6%, on a 5 A breaker. Heat released into the room is 1.45 kW at 32 °C ambient. It uses about 540 liters of water a day, or roughly 5.2 liters for every kilo of ice. The IM-130CPE-23 runs on 125 g of R290, which is propane (safety class A3), so the charge belongs on the installation paperwork. Functions on the IM-130CPE-23 include automated cleaning.

Fitting it on a vessel

Keep the room around the IM-130CPE-23 between 1 and 40 °C and the incoming water between 5 and 35 °C at 0.7 to 8 bar. Air-cooled, it puts its 1.45 kW of heat straight into the room, so a closed pantry needs some ventilation. For water treatment, fit the 4HC-H single filter ahead of the IM-130CPE-23.
