Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-130PE-E-23 – Self-Contained, Air-cooled, 110 kg/24h, M Cube

The IM-130PE-E-23 makes up to 110 kg of cubes a day and keeps 50 kg of it in its own bin, so it only needs power, water and a drain to start working. That works out to roughly 4.6 kg an hour. At that rate the 50 kg bin takes around 11 hours to rebuild after a busy service.

Choosing the version

In the IM CUBE family the IM-130PE-E-23 is the EliteCUBE, which means both the drain pump and UV-C sanitization. Its drain pump lifts water 1.5 m and moves it up to 10 m, so a 704 mm wide unit like this does not have to sit over a floor drain. The UV-C lamp keeps the standing water in the tank treated between cleanings of this 110 kg/day machine. You get M cubes, 28 x 28 x 23 mm, at 110 kg a day, marked by the -23 in the code. The same machine also comes as IM-130PE-23 (Basic Cube), IM-130PE-U-23 (UltraCUBE) and IM-130PE-F-23 (FlexiCUBE). Other cube sizes: IM-130PE-E-32 (XL cube, 108 kg a day) and IM-130PE-E (L cube, 116 kg a day). There is also a water-cooled version, the IM-130WPE-E-23, rated at 99 kg a day, using 600 liters of water a day against 570 liters here and putting 1.02 kW of heat into the room instead of 1.45 kW.

Technical details

Footprint is 704 x 506 mm with a height of 1,210 mm before legs (add 70-110mm); net weight is 72 kg. Power draw is 0.595 kW on single-phase 220-240 V 50 Hz, within ±6%, on a 5 A breaker. Plan for 1.45 kW of heat into the space at 32 °C. Daily water use is 570 liters, or roughly 5.2 liters for every kilo of ice. Its refrigerant is R290 (propane, class A3), 140 g of it, which matters when you decide where the IM-130PE-E-23 goes. On the control side the IM-130PE-E-23 gives you automated cleaning, UV-C sanitization and internal drain pump.

Installation notes

Hoshizaki allows 1 to 40 °C in the room for the IM-130PE-E-23, water at 5 to 35 °C and a supply pressure of 0.7 to 8 bar. Expect roughly 1.45 kW of extra heat in the room from this air-cooled unit. Hoshizaki matches the IM-130PE-E-23 with the 4HC-H single filter system. Before quoting we check the board voltage and frequency, the water connection and the fixing on board, since the figures above are for the standard IM-130PE-E-23.
