Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-130PE-E – Self-Contained, Air-cooled, 116 kg/24h, L Cube

The IM-130PE-E makes up to 116 kg of cubes a day and keeps 50 kg of it in its own bin, so it only needs power, water and a drain to start working. Averaged out, the machine turns out about 4.8 kg an hour. An empty 50 kg bin fills in roughly 10 hours at that rate.

Versions and cube size

This 116 kg/day machine is the EliteCUBE build, so it has both the drain pump and UV-C sanitization. Drain position stops being a problem: the IM-130PE-E pumps its waste water up to 1.5 m high and 10 m away. UV-C flashes treat the IM-130PE-E's water tank between cleanings. Cubes from the IM-130PE-E come out 28 x 28 x 32 mm, which Hoshizaki calls size L, the standard size with no suffix. The same machine also comes as IM-130PE (Basic Cube), IM-130PE-U (UltraCUBE) and IM-130PE-F (FlexiCUBE). With a different cube it is the IM-130PE-E-32 (XL cube, 108 kg a day) and IM-130PE-E-23 (M cube, 110 kg a day). Compare it with the water-cooled IM-130WPE-E, which makes 108 kg a day, using 600 liters of water a day against 470 liters here and putting 1.02 kW of heat into the room instead of 1.45 kW.

Specs worth checking

It measures 704 x 506 x 1,210 mm (W x D x H) before legs (add 70-110mm) and weighs 71 kg empty. Electrically it needs single-phase 220-240 V 50 Hz, drawing 0.565 kW, within ±6%, on a 5 A breaker. At 32 °C room temperature it releases 1.45 kW of heat. Daily water use is 470 liters, or roughly 4.1 liters for every kilo of ice. Refrigerant is 140 g of flammable R290 (A3), a figure the yard or class surveyor will ask for. Functions on the IM-130PE-E include automated cleaning, UV-C sanitization and internal drain pump.

Where the IM-130PE-E fits

Check two things on board before the IM-130PE-E goes in: room temperature (1 to 40 °C allowed) and water pressure (0.7 to 8 bar, water 5 to 35 °C). Air-cooled, it puts its 1.45 kW of heat straight into the room, so a closed pantry needs some ventilation. The matching water filter for 116 kg a day is the 4HC-H twin system.
