Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-130WPE-E Overview

Hoshizaki rates the IM-130WPE-E at 108 kg of cubes per day. The ice drops into a 50 kg bin inside the same water-cooled cabinet. Spread over a day, it is about 4.5 kg per hour. From empty, its 50 kg bin takes about 11 hours to fill.

Choosing the version

In the IM CUBE family the IM-130WPE-E is the EliteCUBE, which means both the drain pump and UV-C sanitization. The pump in the IM-130WPE-E pushes waste water up to 10 m sideways and 1.5 m up, which helps on a ship where the deck drain is rarely next to the bar. In the IM-130WPE-E the UV-C unit works on the tank water between regular cleanings. You get L cubes, 28 x 28 x 32 mm, at 108 kg a day, the standard size with no suffix. Other versions of this model: IM-130WPE (Basic Cube), IM-130WPE-U (UltraCUBE) and IM-130WPE-F (FlexiCUBE). Other cube sizes: IM-130WPE-E-23 (M cube, 99 kg a day). The air-cooled twin is the IM-130PE-E: 116 kg a day, using 470 liters of water a day against 600 liters here and putting 1.45 kW of heat into the room instead of 1.02 kW.

In numbers

Footprint is 704 x 506 mm with a height of 1,210 mm before legs (add 70-110mm); net weight is 71 kg. Power draw is 0.53 kW on single-phase 220-240 V 50 Hz, within ±6%, on a 5 A breaker. At 32 °C room temperature it releases 1.02 kW of heat. Daily water use is 600 liters, or roughly 5.6 liters for every kilo of ice. Refrigerant is 147 g of flammable R290 (A3), a figure the yard or class surveyor will ask for. Functions on the IM-130WPE-E include automated cleaning, UV-C sanitization and internal drain pump.

Where the IM-130WPE-E fits

Hoshizaki allows 1 to 40 °C in the room for the IM-130WPE-E, water at 5 to 35 °C and a supply pressure of 0.7 to 8 bar. The water-cooled condenser suits tight, badly ventilated spaces, but the IM-130WPE-E needs a steady supply of cooling water, around 600 liters a day in total. For water treatment, fit the 4HC-H twin filter ahead of the IM-130WPE-E. We quote the IM-130WPE-E against your vessel (supply voltage and frequency, water line, fixing), working from Hoshizaki's data for the standard model.
