Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-130WPE – Self-Contained, Water-cooled, 108 kg/24h, L Cube

Up to 108 kg of cubes every 24 hours, with a 50 kg bin built into the cabinet: that is the short version of the Hoshizaki IM-130WPE. That works out to roughly 4.5 kg an hour. An empty 50 kg bin fills in roughly 11 hours at that rate.

Choosing the version

The version suffix tells you what is inside: the IM-130WPE is the Basic Cube and comes with no drain pump and no UV-C unit. Cubes from the IM-130WPE come out 28 x 28 x 32 mm, which Hoshizaki calls size L, the standard size with no suffix. If the version does not suit, the same body is sold as IM-130WPE-U (UltraCUBE), IM-130WPE-F (FlexiCUBE) and IM-130WPE-E (EliteCUBE). With a different cube it is the IM-130WPE-23 (M cube, 99 kg a day). Compare it with the air-cooled IM-130PE, which makes 116 kg a day, using 470 liters of water a day against 600 liters here and putting 1.45 kW of heat into the room instead of 1.02 kW.

In numbers

It measures 704 x 506 x 1,210 mm (W x D x H) before legs (add 70-110mm) and weighs 71 kg empty. Power draw is 0.53 kW on single-phase 220-240 V 50 Hz, within ±6%, on a 5 A breaker. At 32 °C room temperature it releases 1.02 kW of heat. Daily water use is 600 liters, or roughly 5.6 liters for every kilo of ice. Refrigerant is 147 g of flammable R290 (A3), a figure the yard or class surveyor will ask for. Functions on the IM-130WPE include automated cleaning.

Fitting it on a vessel

Hoshizaki allows 1 to 40 °C in the room for the IM-130WPE, water at 5 to 35 °C and a supply pressure of 0.7 to 8 bar. The water-cooled condenser suits tight, badly ventilated spaces, but the IM-130WPE needs a steady supply of cooling water, around 600 liters a day in total.
