Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-240APE-23 – Modular, Air-cooled, 190 kg/24h, M Cube

The IM-240APE-23 is a modular cube head. It makes up to 190 kg of cubes a day but has no bin of its own, so it is always ordered with a storage bin (Hoshizaki lists the B-140SB, B-210SB, B-340SB). Averaged out, the machine turns out about 7.9 kg an hour.

Versions and cube size

As the Basic Cube version of the IM-240APE, this machine comes with no drain pump and no UV-C unit. The IM-240APE-23 makes the M cube, 28 x 28 x 23 mm, marked by the -23 in the code. The same machine also comes as IM-240APE-U-23 (UltraCUBE). With a different cube it is the IM-240APE (L cube, 210 kg a day) and IM-240APE-32 (XL cube, 220 kg a day). Compare it with the water-cooled IM-240AWPE-23, which makes 170 kg a day, using 850 liters of water a day against 610 liters here and putting 1.55 kW of heat into the room instead of 2.51 kW.

The cabinet is 560 mm wide, 700 mm deep and 880 mm tall, and weighs 69 kg. Power draw is 0.87 kW on single-phase 220-240 V 50 Hz, within ±6%, on a 5 A breaker. At 32 °C room temperature it releases 2.51 kW of heat. It uses about 610 liters of water a day, or roughly 3.2 liters for every kilo of ice. Its refrigerant is R290 (propane, class A3), 147 g of it, which matters when you decide where the IM-240APE-23 goes. Hoshizaki lists automated cleaning for the IM-240APE-23.
