Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-240APE-32 – Modular, Air-cooled, 220 kg/24h, XL Cube

Up to 220 kg of cubes a day from a air-cooled head that sits on a separate bin: the IM-240APE-32 is built for ice rooms and busy bars rather than a counter. Hoshizaki pairs the IM-240APE-32 with the B-140SB, B-210SB, B-340SB. That works out to roughly 9.2 kg an hour.

Choosing the version

In the IM CUBE family the IM-240APE-32 is the Basic Cube, which means no drain pump and no UV-C unit. Cubes from the IM-240APE-32 come out 32 x 32 x 32 mm, which Hoshizaki calls size XL, marked by the -32 in the code. The same machine also comes as IM-240APE-U-32 (UltraCUBE). With a different cube it is the IM-240APE-23 (M cube, 190 kg a day) and IM-240APE (L cube, 210 kg a day).

Specs worth checking

Footprint is 560 x 700 mm with a height of 880 mm; net weight is 70 kg. It draws 0.87 kW from a single-phase 220-240 V 50 Hz supply, within ±6%, on a 5 A breaker. Heat released into the room is 2.51 kW at 32 °C ambient. It uses about 600 liters of water a day, or roughly 2.7 liters for every kilo of ice. Refrigerant is 147 g of flammable R290 (A3), a figure the yard or class surveyor will ask for. On the control side the IM-240APE-32 gives you automated cleaning.

Installation notes

Keep the room around the IM-240APE-32 between 1 and 40 °C and the incoming water between 5 and 35 °C at 0.7 to 8 bar. The condenser blows about 2.51 kW of warm air into the room, which a bar with poor ventilation will notice. For water treatment, fit the 4HC-H twin filter ahead of the IM-240APE-32. For mounting the IM-240APE-32 on a bin, Hoshizaki lists TK-30 for B-140SB, B-210SB, B340SB (optional, not required), TK-8D for B-210SB, TK-8D + TK18D for B-340SB.
