Which IM-240APE to pick

In the IM CUBE family the IM-240APE-U-23 is the UltraCUBE, which means UV-C sanitization of the water tank. UV-C flashes treat the IM-240APE-U-23's water tank between cleanings. The IM-240APE-U-23 makes the M cube, 28 x 28 x 23 mm, marked by the -23 in the code. If the version does not suit, the same body is sold as IM-240APE-23 (Basic Cube). With a different cube it is the IM-240APE-U (L cube, 210 kg a day) and IM-240APE-U-32 (XL cube, 220 kg a day). There is also a water-cooled version, the IM-240AWPE-U-23, rated at 170 kg a day, using 850 liters of water a day against 610 liters here and putting 1.55 kW of heat into the room instead of 2.51 kW.

Technical details

Footprint is 560 x 700 mm with a height of 880 mm; net weight is 69 kg. It draws 0.87 kW from a single-phase 220-240 V 50 Hz supply, within ±6%, on a 5 A breaker. Plan for 2.51 kW of heat into the space at 32 °C. It uses about 610 liters of water a day, or roughly 3.2 liters for every kilo of ice. The IM-240APE-U-23 runs on 147 g of R290, which is propane (safety class A3), so the charge belongs on the installation paperwork. Functions on the IM-240APE-U-23 include automated cleaning and UV-C sanitization.

Installation notes

Check two things on board before the IM-240APE-U-23 goes in: room temperature (1 to 40 °C allowed) and water pressure (0.7 to 8 bar, water 5 to 35 °C). Air-cooled, it puts its 2.51 kW of heat straight into the room, so a closed pantry needs some ventilation. Pair it with a 4HC-H twin filter; at 190 kg a day that is the size Hoshizaki specifies. For mounting the IM-240APE-U-23 on a bin, Hoshizaki lists TK-30 for B-140SB, B-210SB, B340SB (optional, not required), TK-8D for B-210SB, TK-8D + TK18D for B-340SB.
