Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-240AWPE-23 – Modular, Water-cooled, 170 kg/24h, M Cube

Hoshizaki rates the modular IM-240AWPE-23 at 170 kg of cubes per 24 hours, and you pair it with a storage bin sized to the ice needed at the start of service (Hoshizaki lists the B-140SB, B-210SB, B-340SB). Spread over a day, it is about 7.1 kg per hour.

Choosing the version

As the Basic Cube version of the IM-240AWPE, this machine comes with no drain pump and no UV-C unit. The IM-240AWPE-23 makes the M cube, 28 x 28 x 23 mm, marked by the -23 in the code. Other versions of this model: IM-240AWPE-U-23 (UltraCUBE). With a different cube it is the IM-240AWPE (L cube, 205 kg a day). The air-cooled twin is the IM-240APE-23: 190 kg a day, using 610 liters of water a day against 850 liters here and putting 2.51 kW of heat into the room instead of 1.55 kW.

Technical details

The cabinet is 560 mm wide, 700 mm deep and 880 mm tall, and weighs 70 kg. It draws 0.78 kW from a single-phase 220-240 V 50 Hz supply, within ±6%, on a 5 A breaker. Plan for 1.55 kW of heat into the space at 32 °C. Daily water use is 850 liters, or roughly 5 liters for every kilo of ice. Refrigerant is 147 g of flammable R290 (A3), a figure the yard or class surveyor will ask for. Functions on the IM-240AWPE-23 include automated cleaning.

Where the IM-240AWPE-23 fits

The IM-240AWPE-23 is rated for rooms at 1 to 40 °C, with feed water between 5 and 35 °C at 0.7 to 8 bar. The water-cooled condenser suits tight, badly ventilated spaces, but the IM-240AWPE-23 needs a steady supply of cooling water, around 850 liters a day in total. The matching water filter for 170 kg a day is the 4HC-H twin system.
