Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-240AWPE-U – Modular, Water-cooled, 205 kg/24h, L Cube

The IM-240AWPE-U is a modular cube head. It makes up to 205 kg of cubes a day but has no bin of its own, so it is always ordered with a storage bin (Hoshizaki lists the B-140SB, B-210SB, B-340SB). Averaged out, the machine turns out about 8.5 kg an hour.

Choosing the version

The version suffix tells you what is inside: the IM-240AWPE-U is the UltraCUBE and comes with UV-C sanitization of the water tank. The UV-C lamp keeps the standing water in the tank treated between cleanings of this 205 kg/day machine. Each cube from the IM-240AWPE-U is 28 x 28 x 32 mm (size L), the standard size with no suffix. The same machine also comes as IM-240AWPE (Basic Cube). Other cube sizes: IM-240AWPE-U-23 (M cube, 170 kg a day). The air-cooled twin is the IM-240APE-U: 210 kg a day, using 670 liters of water a day against 1,030 liters here and putting 2.51 kW of heat into the room instead of 1.55 kW.

Power, water and size

It measures 560 x 700 x 880 mm (W x D x H) and weighs 78 kg empty. Power draw is 0.735 kW on single-phase 220-240 V 50 Hz, within ±6%, on a 5 A breaker. Plan for 1.55 kW of heat into the space at 32 °C. It uses about 1,030 liters of water a day, or roughly 5 liters for every kilo of ice. Refrigerant is 147 g of flammable R290 (A3), a figure the yard or class surveyor will ask for. On the control side the IM-240AWPE-U gives you automated cleaning and UV-C sanitization.

Installation notes

The IM-240AWPE-U is rated for rooms at 1 to 40 °C, with feed water between 5 and 35 °C at 0.7 to 8 bar. With water cooling, only 1.55 kW reaches the room; the price is roughly 1,030 liters of water per day. The matching water filter for 205 kg a day is the 4HC-H twin system.
