Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-240DPE-23 – Modular & Stackable, Air-cooled, 180 kg/24h, M Cube

Hoshizaki rates the modular IM-240DPE-23 at 180 kg of cubes per 24 hours, and you pair it with a storage bin sized to the ice needed at the start of service (Hoshizaki lists the B-340SB). Spread over a day, it is about 7.5 kg per hour.

Which IM-240DPE to pick

This 180 kg/day machine is the Basic Cube build, so it has no drain pump and no UV-C unit. The IM-240DPE-23 makes the M cube, 28 x 28 x 23 mm, marked by the -23 in the code. The same machine also comes as IM-240DPE-U-23 (UltraCUBE). With a different cube it is the IM-240DPE-32 (XL cube, 190 kg a day) and IM-240DPE (L cube, 210 kg a day). Compare it with the water-cooled IM-240DWPE-23, which makes 190 kg a day, using 980 liters of water a day against 730 liters here and putting 1.47 kW of heat into the room instead of 2.25 kW.

Technical details

It measures 1,084 x 700 x 500 mm (W x D x H) and weighs 75 kg empty. Electrically it needs single-phase 220-240 V 50 Hz, drawing 0.87 kW, within ±6%, on a 5 A breaker. Heat released into the room is 2.25 kW at 32 °C ambient. Water consumption comes to 730 liters per 24 hours, or roughly 4.1 liters for every kilo of ice. The IM-240DPE-23 runs on 147 g of R290, which is propane (safety class A3), so the charge belongs on the installation paperwork. On the control side the IM-240DPE-23 gives you automated cleaning.

Fitting it on a vessel

Keep the room around the IM-240DPE-23 between 1 and 40 °C and the incoming water between 5 and 35 °C at 0.7 to 8 bar. The condenser blows about 2.25 kW of warm air into the room, which a bar with poor ventilation will notice. Pair it with a 4HC-H twin filter; at 180 kg a day that is the size Hoshizaki specifies.
