Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-240DWPE-U-32 – Modular & Stackable, Water-cooled, 190 kg/24h, XL Cube

The IM-240DWPE-U-32 is a modular cube head. It makes up to 190 kg of cubes a day but has no bin of its own, so it is always ordered with a storage bin (Hoshizaki lists the B-340SB). That works out to roughly 7.9 kg an hour.

Versions and cube size

Hoshizaki sells the IM-240DWPE in four versions, and this one, the UltraCUBE, has UV-C sanitization of the water tank. The UV-C lamp keeps the standing water in the tank treated between cleanings of this 190 kg/day machine. Cube size on the IM-240DWPE-U-32 is XL (32 x 32 x 32 mm), marked by the -32 in the code. Specs worth checking

The cabinet is 1,084 mm wide, 700 mm deep and 500 mm tall, and weighs 74 kg. Power draw is 0.785 kW on single-phase 220-240 V 50 Hz, within ±6%, on a 5 A breaker. At 32 °C room temperature it releases 1.47 kW of heat. It uses about 890 liters of water a day, or roughly 4.7 liters for every kilo of ice. Refrigerant is 147 g of flammable R290 (A3), a figure the yard or class surveyor will ask for. On the control side the IM-240DWPE-U-32 gives you automated cleaning and UV-C sanitization.

Fitting it on a vessel

Operating limits for the IM-240DWPE-U-32 are 1 to 40 °C ambient, 5 to 35 °C water and 0.7 to 8 bar, so check the space and the fresh water line against those. The water-cooled condenser suits tight, badly ventilated spaces, but the IM-240DWPE-U-32 needs a steady supply of cooling water, around 890 liters a day in total. Hoshizaki matches the IM-240DWPE-U-32 with the 4HC-H twin filter system. For mounting the IM-240DWPE-U-32 on a bin, Hoshizaki lists TK-48 for B-340SB (optional, not required), TK-IMD2 for B-340SB.
