Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-240DWPE – Modular & Stackable, Water-cooled, 209 kg/24h, L Cube

The IM-240DWPE is a modular cube head. It makes up to 209 kg of cubes a day but has no bin of its own, so it is always ordered with a storage bin (Hoshizaki lists the B-340SB). That works out to roughly 8.7 kg an hour.

Which IM-240DWPE to pick

As the Basic Cube version of the IM-240DWPE, this machine comes with no drain pump and no UV-C unit. Each cube from the IM-240DWPE is 28 x 28 x 32 mm (size L), the standard size with no suffix. The same machine also comes as IM-240DWPE-U (UltraCUBE). Other cube sizes: IM-240DWPE-23 (M cube, 190 kg a day) and IM-240DWPE-32 (XL cube, 190 kg a day). The air-cooled twin is the IM-240DPE: 210 kg a day, using 670 liters of water a day against 990 liters here and putting 2.25 kW of heat into the room instead of 1.47 kW.

Power, water and size

Footprint is 1,084 x 700 mm with a height of 500 mm; net weight is 82 kg. Electrically it needs single-phase 220-240 V 50 Hz, drawing 0.76 kW, within ±6%, on a 5 A breaker. Plan for 1.47 kW of heat into the space at 32 °C. It uses about 990 liters of water a day, or roughly 4.7 liters for every kilo of ice. Refrigerant is 147 g of flammable R290 (A3), a figure the yard or class surveyor will ask for. On the control side the IM-240DWPE gives you automated cleaning.

On board

Operating limits for the IM-240DWPE are 1 to 40 °C ambient, 5 to 35 °C water and 0.7 to 8 bar, so check the space and the fresh water line against those. Water cooling keeps most of the heat out of the room, at the cost of about 990 liters a day from the tanks or watermaker. For water treatment, fit the 4HC-H twin filter ahead of the IM-240DWPE.
