Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-240PE-E – Self-Contained, Air-cooled, 210 kg/24h, L Cube

The IM-240PE-E makes up to 210 kg of cubes a day and keeps 110 kg of it in its own bin, so it only needs power, water and a drain to start working. Averaged out, the machine turns out about 8.8 kg an hour. At that rate the 110 kg bin takes around 13 hours to rebuild after a busy service.

Choosing the version

The version suffix tells you what is inside: the IM-240PE-E is the EliteCUBE and comes with both the drain pump and UV-C sanitization. Drain position stops being a problem: the IM-240PE-E pumps its waste water up to 1.5 m high and 10 m away. The UV-C lamp keeps the standing water in the tank treated between cleanings of this 210 kg/day machine. The IM-240PE-E makes the L cube, 28 x 28 x 32 mm, the standard size with no suffix. Other versions of this model: IM-240PE (Basic Cube), IM-240PE-U (UltraCUBE) and IM-240PE-F (FlexiCUBE). Other cube sizes: IM-240PE-E-23 (M cube, 180 kg a day). Compare it with the water-cooled IM-240WPE-E, which makes 207 kg a day, using 900 liters of water a day against 670 liters here and putting 1.54 kW of heat into the room instead of 2.58 kW.

Specs worth checking

Footprint is 704 x 665 mm with a height of 1,510 mm before legs (add 70-110mm); net weight is 108 kg. Electrically it needs single-phase 220-240 V 50 Hz, drawing 0.87 kW, within ±6%, on a 5 A breaker. At 32 °C room temperature it releases 2.58 kW of heat. It uses about 670 liters of water a day, or roughly 3.2 liters for every kilo of ice. Refrigerant is 147 g of flammable R290 (A3), a figure the yard or class surveyor will ask for. Hoshizaki lists automated cleaning, UV-C sanitization and internal drain pump for the IM-240PE-E.

Fitting it on a vessel

Operating limits for the IM-240PE-E are 1 to 40 °C ambient, 5 to 35 °C water and 0.7 to 8 bar, so check the space and the fresh water line against those. Air-cooled, it puts its 2.58 kW of heat straight into the room, so a closed pantry needs some ventilation. For water treatment, fit the 4HC-H twin filter ahead of the IM-240PE-E.
