Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-240PE-U Overview
With 210 kg of cubes a day and a 110 kg storage bin, the IM-240PE-U is a self-contained air-cooled cube machine for bars, pantries and small galleys. Averaged out, the machine turns out about 8.8 kg an hour. At that rate the 110 kg bin takes around 13 hours to rebuild after a busy service.

Hoshizaki sells the IM-240PE in four versions, and this one, the UltraCUBE, has UV-C sanitization of the water tank. In the IM-240PE-U the UV-C unit works on the tank water between regular cleanings. Each cube from the IM-240PE-U is 28 x 28 x 32 mm (size L), the standard size with no suffix. If the version does not suit, the same body is sold as IM-240PE (Basic Cube), IM-240PE-F (FlexiCUBE) and IM-240PE-E (EliteCUBE). Other cube sizes: IM-240PE-U-23 (M cube, 180 kg a day). There is also a water-cooled version, the IM-240WPE-U, rated at 207 kg a day, using 900 liters of water a day against 670 liters here and putting 1.54 kW of heat into the room instead of 2.58 kW.
Power, water and size
It measures 704 x 665 x 1,510 mm (W x D x H) before legs (add 70-110mm) and weighs 108 kg empty. It draws 0.87 kW from a single-phase 220-240 V 50 Hz supply, within ±6%, on a 5 A breaker. Plan for 2.58 kW of heat into the space at 32 °C. It uses about 670 liters of water a day, or roughly 3.2 liters for every kilo of ice. Inside the IM-240PE-U is a 147 g R290 charge, and R290 is propane rated A3 for flammability. Functions on the IM-240PE-U include automated cleaning and UV-C sanitization.
Installation notes
Keep the room around the IM-240PE-U between 1 and 40 °C and the incoming water between 5 and 35 °C at 0.7 to 8 bar. The condenser blows about 2.58 kW of warm air into the room, which a bar with poor ventilation will notice. Pair it with a 4HC-H twin filter; at 210 kg a day that is the size Hoshizaki specifies. Before quoting we check the board voltage and frequency, the water connection and the fixing on board, since the figures above are for the standard IM-240PE-U.
