Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-240PE – Self-Contained, Air-cooled, 210 kg/24h, L Cube

Up to 210 kg of cubes every 24 hours, with a 110 kg bin built into the cabinet: that is the short version of the Hoshizaki IM-240PE. That works out to roughly 8.8 kg an hour. From empty, its 110 kg bin takes about 13 hours to fill.

Which IM-240PE to pick

Hoshizaki sells the IM-240PE in four versions, and this one, the Basic Cube, has no drain pump and no UV-C unit. You get L cubes, 28 x 28 x 32 mm, at 210 kg a day, the standard size with no suffix. The same machine also comes as IM-240PE-U (UltraCUBE), IM-240PE-F (FlexiCUBE) and IM-240PE-E (EliteCUBE). With a different cube it is the IM-240PE-23 (M cube, 180 kg a day). There is also a water-cooled version, the IM-240WPE, rated at 188 kg a day, using 900 liters of water a day against 670 liters here and putting 1.54 kW of heat into the room instead of 2.58 kW.

Technical details

The cabinet is 704 mm wide, 665 mm deep and 1,510 mm tall before legs (add 70-110mm), and weighs 108 kg. It draws 0.87 kW from a single-phase 220-240 V 50 Hz supply, within ±6%, on a 5 A breaker. At 32 °C room temperature it releases 2.58 kW of heat. It uses about 670 liters of water a day, or roughly 3.2 liters for every kilo of ice. The IM-240PE runs on 147 g of R290, which is propane (safety class A3), so the charge belongs on the installation paperwork. On the control side the IM-240PE gives you automated cleaning.

Where the IM-240PE fits

Operating limits for the IM-240PE are 1 to 40 °C ambient, 5 to 35 °C water and 0.7 to 8 bar, so check the space and the fresh water line against those. Being air-cooled, the IM-240PE warms the space it stands in by about 2.58 kW; in a small pantry that is worth planning for. Hoshizaki matches the IM-240PE with the 4HC-H twin filter system.
