Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-240WPE – Self-Contained, Water-cooled, 188 kg/24h, L Cube

Up to 188 kg of cubes every 24 hours, with a 110 kg bin built into the cabinet: that is the short version of the Hoshizaki IM-240WPE. Spread over a day, it is about 7.8 kg per hour. From empty, its 110 kg bin takes about 14 hours to fill.

Versions and cube size

In the IM CUBE family the IM-240WPE is the Basic Cube, which means no drain pump and no UV-C unit. Cube size on the IM-240WPE is L (28 x 28 x 32 mm), the standard size with no suffix. The same machine also comes as IM-240WPE-U (UltraCUBE), IM-240WPE-F (FlexiCUBE) and IM-240WPE-E (EliteCUBE). With a different cube it is the IM-240WPE-23 (M cube, 190 kg a day). There is also a air-cooled version, the IM-240PE, rated at 210 kg a day, using 670 liters of water a day against 900 liters here and putting 2.58 kW of heat into the room instead of 1.54 kW.

Technical details

The cabinet is 704 mm wide, 665 mm deep and 1,510 mm tall before legs (add 70-110mm), and weighs 108 kg. Power draw is 0.75 kW on single-phase 220-240 V 50 Hz, within ±6%, on a 5 A breaker. Heat released into the room is 1.54 kW at 32 °C ambient. Daily water use is 900 liters, or roughly 4.8 liters for every kilo of ice. Its refrigerant is R290 (propane, class A3), 147 g of it, which matters when you decide where the IM-240WPE goes. Functions on the IM-240WPE include automated cleaning.

Where the IM-240WPE fits

Keep the room around the IM-240WPE between 1 and 40 °C and the incoming water between 5 and 35 °C at 0.7 to 8 bar. The water-cooled condenser suits tight, badly ventilated spaces, but the IM-240WPE needs a steady supply of cooling water, around 900 liters a day in total.
