Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-240XPE-32 – Modular & Stackable Extension, Air-cooled, 190 kg/24h, XL Cube

The Hoshizaki IM-240XPE-32 is a modular, stackable air-cooled cube ice maker extension unit producing up to 190 kg of cubes in 24 hours. In the IM CUBE range it is the Basic Cube and it makes the XL cube (32 × 32 × 32 mm) shown by the -32 suffix. As a modular head it has no bin of its own and sits on a separate storage bin: Hoshizaki pairs the IM-240XPE-32 with the B-340SB; top kits: TK-48 for B-340SB (optional, not required), TK-IMD2 for B-340SB. As the extension unit it is stacked on a base unit of the same series to add production over one bin.

Versions and sizes

The same machine is listed as IM-240XPE-U-32 (UltraCUBE). Other cube sizes of the IM-240XPE: IM-240XPE-23, M cube, 180 kg a day and IM-240XPE, L cube, 210 kg a day. The water cooled version is the IM-240XWPE-32, at 190 kg a day and 0.89 m³ of water a day against 0.53 m³ for the IM-240XPE-32, rejecting 1.47 kW of heat against 2.25 kW.

Technical data

The IM-240XPE-32 measures 1,084 × 700 × 500 mm (W × D × H) and weighs 71 kg net. Electrical consumption is 0.86 kW and heat rejection 2.25 kW at 32 °C ambient and 21 °C water, with 0.53 m³ of water used per 24 hours. The IM-240XPE-32 runs on 147 g of R290, GWP 3. R290 is a natural refrigerant classified A3, higher flammability, so the charge belongs in the installation specification. Marine installation

Hoshizaki gives operating limits of ambient temperatures from 1 to 40 °C, water supply temperatures from 5 to 35 °C and water pressure from 0.7 to 8 bar, which is what the space and the vessel's fresh water system have to meet for the IM-240XPE-32. Being air-cooled, it rejects its heat into the space, so the ventilation of the galley or bar has to take it.
