Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-240XWPE-U – Modular & Stackable Extension, Water-cooled, 209 kg/24h, L Cube

Up to 209 kg of cubes a day from a water-cooled head that sits on a separate bin: the IM-240XWPE-U is built for ice rooms and busy bars rather than a counter. Hoshizaki pairs the IM-240XWPE-U with the B-340SB. As the extension unit, it goes on top of a matching base unit, so two heads fill a single bin. That works out to roughly 8.7 kg an hour.

Choosing the version

The version suffix tells you what is inside: the IM-240XWPE-U is the UltraCUBE and comes with UV-C sanitization of the water tank. UV-C flashes treat the IM-240XWPE-U's water tank between cleanings. Each cube from the IM-240XWPE-U is 28 x 28 x 32 mm (size L), the standard size with no suffix. The same machine also comes as IM-240XWPE (Basic Cube). Need a different cube? Look at the IM-240XWPE-U-23 (M cube, 190 kg a day) and IM-240XWPE-U-32 (XL cube, 190 kg a day). The air-cooled twin is the IM-240XPE-U: 210 kg a day, using 670 liters of water a day against 990 liters here and putting 2.25 kW of heat into the room instead of 1.47 kW.

Technical details

The cabinet is 1,084 mm wide, 700 mm deep and 500 mm tall, and weighs 78 kg. It draws 0.76 kW from a single-phase 220-240 V 50 Hz supply, within ±6%, on a 5 A breaker. Heat released into the room is 1.47 kW at 32 °C ambient. Water consumption comes to 990 liters per 24 hours, or roughly 4.7 liters for every kilo of ice. Its refrigerant is R290 (propane, class A3), 147 g of it, which matters when you decide where the IM-240XWPE-U goes. Functions on the IM-240XWPE-U include automated cleaning and UV-C sanitization.

Installation notes

Keep the room around the IM-240XWPE-U between 1 and 40 °C and the incoming water between 5 and 35 °C at 0.7 to 8 bar. The water-cooled condenser suits tight, badly ventilated spaces, but the IM-240XWPE-U needs a steady supply of cooling water, around 990 liters a day in total. For water treatment, fit the 4HC-H twin filter ahead of the IM-240XWPE-U. Top kits Hoshizaki lists for the IM-240XWPE-U: TK-48 for B-340SB (optional, not required), TK-IMD2 for B-340SB.
