Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-240XWPE-U – Modular & Stackable Extension, Water-cooled, 209 kg/24h, L Cube

The Hoshizaki IM-240XWPE-U is a modular, stackable water-cooled cube ice maker extension unit producing up to 209 kg of cubes in 24 hours. In the IM CUBE range it is the UltraCUBE with UV-C sanitization and it makes the L cube (28 × 28 × 32 mm), the standard size with no suffix. As a modular head it has no bin of its own and sits on a separate storage bin: Hoshizaki pairs the IM-240XWPE-U with the B-340SB; top kits: TK-48 for B-340SB (optional, not required), TK-IMD2 for B-340SB. As the extension unit it is stacked on a base unit of the same series to add production over one bin.

Versions and sizes

The same machine is listed as IM-240XWPE (Cube). Other cube sizes of the IM-240XWPE: IM-240XWPE-U-23, M cube, 190 kg a day and IM-240XWPE-U-32, XL cube, 190 kg a day. The air cooled version is the IM-240XPE-U, at 210 kg a day and 0.67 m³ of water a day against 0.99 m³ for the IM-240XWPE-U, rejecting 2.25 kW of heat against 1.47 kW.

Performance and connections

The IM-240XWPE-U measures 1,084 × 700 × 500 mm (W × D × H) and weighs 78 kg net. Electrical consumption is 0.76 kW and heat rejection 1.47 kW at 32 °C ambient and 21 °C water, with 0.99 m³ of water used per 24 hours. The IM-240XWPE-U runs on 147 g of R290, GWP 3. R290 is a natural refrigerant classified A3, higher flammability, so the charge belongs in the installation specification. Electrically the IM-240XWPE-U is rated for single phase 220-240 V 50 Hz, with a voltage tolerance of ±6% and a 5 A circuit breaker. On board

Hoshizaki gives operating limits of ambient temperatures from 1 to 40 °C, water supply temperatures from 5 to 35 °C and water pressure from 0.7 to 8 bar, which is what the space and the vessel's fresh water system have to meet for the IM-240XWPE-U. Being water-cooled, it takes cooling water as well as feed water, and releases far less heat into a small bar or pantry than an air-cooled machine. For water treatment Hoshizaki pairs it with the 4HC-H twin water filter system and its 4HC replacement cartridges. For shipboard use the IM-240XWPE-U is quoted against the vessel's own supply, water pressure and space.
