Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-30CPE-U-25 – Self-Contained, Air-cooled, 27 kg/24h, S Cube

Up to 27 kg of cubes every 24 hours, with a 11.5 kg bin built into the cabinet: that is the short version of the Hoshizaki IM-30CPE-U-25. Averaged out, the machine turns out about 1.1 kg an hour. An empty 11.5 kg bin fills in roughly 10 hours at that rate.

Choosing the version

In the IM CUBE family the IM-30CPE-U-25 is the UltraCUBE, which means UV-C sanitization of the water tank. The UV-C lamp keeps the standing water in the tank treated between cleanings of this 27 kg/day machine. Cubes from the IM-30CPE-U-25 come out 25 x 25 x 23 mm, which Hoshizaki calls size S, marked by the -25 in the code. If the version does not suit, the same body is sold as IM-30CPE-25 (Basic Cube). With a different cube it is the IM-30CPE-U (L cube, 34 kg a day). The water-cooled twin is the IM-30CWPE-U-25: 30 kg a day, using 140 liters of water a day against 140 liters here and putting 0.31 kW of heat into the room instead of 0.57 kW.

Specs worth checking

It measures 398 x 461 x 695 mm (W x D x H) before legs (add 92-127mm) and weighs 36 kg empty. Power draw is 0.215 kW on single-phase 220-240 V 50 Hz, within ±6%, on a 5 A breaker. Heat released into the room is 0.57 kW at 32 °C ambient. Daily water use is 140 liters, or roughly 5.2 liters for every kilo of ice. Its refrigerant is R290 (propane, class A3), 65 g of it, which matters when you decide where the IM-30CPE-U-25 goes. Functions on the IM-30CPE-U-25 include automated cleaning and UV-C sanitization.

Fitting it on a vessel

Hoshizaki allows 1 to 40 °C in the room for the IM-30CPE-U-25, water at 5 to 35 °C and a supply pressure of 0.7 to 8 bar. Air-cooled, it puts its 0.57 kW of heat straight into the room, so a closed pantry needs some ventilation. For water treatment, fit the 4HC-H single filter ahead of the IM-30CPE-U-25.
