Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-30CWPE – Self-Contained, Water-cooled, 32 kg/24h, L Cube

Up to 32 kg of cubes every 24 hours, with a 11.5 kg bin built into the cabinet: that is the short version of the Hoshizaki IM-30CWPE. Averaged out, the machine turns out about 1.3 kg an hour. At that rate the 11.5 kg bin takes around 8.6 hours to rebuild after a busy service.

Which IM-30CWPE to pick

The version suffix tells you what is inside: the IM-30CWPE is the Basic Cube and comes with no drain pump and no UV-C unit. Cubes from the IM-30CWPE come out 28 x 28 x 32 mm, which Hoshizaki calls size L, the standard size with no suffix. The same machine also comes as IM-30CWPE-U (UltraCUBE). Need a different cube? The air-cooled twin is the IM-30CPE: 34 kg a day, using 150 liters of water a day against 160 liters here and putting 0.57 kW of heat into the room instead of 0.31 kW.

Power, water and size

It measures 398 x 461 x 695 mm (W x D x H) before legs (add 92-127mm) and weighs 37 kg empty. Power draw is 0.17 kW on single-phase 220-240 V 50 Hz, within ±6%, on a 5 A breaker. Heat released into the room is 0.31 kW at 32 °C ambient. Water consumption comes to 160 liters per 24 hours, or roughly 5 liters for every kilo of ice. The IM-30CWPE runs on 70 g of R290, which is propane (safety class A3), so the charge belongs on the installation paperwork. Hoshizaki lists automated cleaning for the IM-30CWPE.

Installation notes

Operating limits for the IM-30CWPE are 1 to 40 °C ambient, 5 to 35 °C water and 0.7 to 8 bar, so check the space and the fresh water line against those. Water cooling keeps most of the heat out of the room, at the cost of about 160 liters a day from the tanks or watermaker. Pair it with a 4HC-H single filter; at 32 kg a day that is the size Hoshizaki specifies.
