Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-45CPE-E-25 – Self-Contained, Air-cooled, 42 kg/24h, S Cube

Hoshizaki rates the IM-45CPE-E-25 at 42 kg of cubes per day. The ice drops into a 15 kg bin inside the same air-cooled cabinet. That works out to roughly 1.8 kg an hour. From empty, its 15 kg bin takes about 8.6 hours to fill.

Choosing the version

As the EliteCUBE version of the IM-45CPE, this machine comes with both the drain pump and UV-C sanitization. Drain position stops being a problem: the IM-45CPE-E-25 pumps its waste water up to 1.5 m high and 10 m away. The UV-C lamp keeps the standing water in the tank treated between cleanings of this 42 kg/day machine. The IM-45CPE-E-25 makes the S cube, 25 x 25 x 23 mm, marked by the -25 in the code. The same machine also comes as IM-45CPE-25 (Basic Cube), IM-45CPE-U-25 (UltraCUBE) and IM-45CPE-F-25 (FlexiCUBE). With a different cube it is the IM-45CPE-E (L cube, 47 kg a day).

Power, water and size

The cabinet is 633 mm wide, 521 mm deep and 690 mm tall before legs (add 90-125 mm), and weighs 45 kg. Electrically it needs single-phase 220-240 V 50 Hz, drawing 0.245 kW, within ±6%, on a 5 A breaker. Heat released into the room is 0.71 kW at 32 °C ambient. Water consumption comes to 200 liters per 24 hours, or roughly 4.8 liters for every kilo of ice. Refrigerant is 70 g of flammable R290 (A3), a figure the yard or class surveyor will ask for. Functions on the IM-45CPE-E-25 include automated cleaning, UV-C sanitization and internal drain pump.

Fitting it on a vessel

Operating limits for the IM-45CPE-E-25 are 1 to 40 °C ambient, 5 to 35 °C water and 0.7 to 8 bar, so check the space and the fresh water line against those. Air-cooled, it puts its 0.71 kW of heat straight into the room, so a closed pantry needs some ventilation. The matching water filter for 42 kg a day is the 4HC-H single system.
