Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-45CPE-U – Self-Contained, Air-cooled, 47 kg/24h, L Cube

With 47 kg of cubes a day and a 15 kg storage bin, the IM-45CPE-U is a self-contained air-cooled cube machine for bars, pantries and small galleys. Averaged out, the machine turns out about 2 kg an hour. From empty, its 15 kg bin takes about 7.7 hours to fill.

Which IM-45CPE to pick

Hoshizaki sells the IM-45CPE in four versions, and this one, the UltraCUBE, has UV-C sanitization of the water tank. In the IM-45CPE-U the UV-C unit works on the tank water between regular cleanings. You get L cubes, 28 x 28 x 32 mm, at 47 kg a day, the standard size with no suffix. If the version does not suit, the same body is sold as IM-45CPE (Basic Cube), IM-45CPE-F (FlexiCUBE) and IM-45CPE-E (EliteCUBE). Other cube sizes: IM-45CPE-U-25 (S cube, 42 kg a day).

Power, water and size

Footprint is 633 x 521 mm with a height of 690 mm before legs (add 90-125 mm); net weight is 44 kg. Power draw is 0.255 kW on single-phase 220-240 V 50 Hz, within ±6%, on a 5 A breaker. Heat released into the room is 0.71 kW at 32 °C ambient. Water consumption comes to 110 liters per 24 hours, or roughly 2.3 liters for every kilo of ice. The IM-45CPE-U runs on 70 g of R290, which is propane (safety class A3), so the charge belongs on the installation paperwork. Functions on the IM-45CPE-U include automated cleaning and UV-C sanitization.

Where the IM-45CPE-U fits

The IM-45CPE-U is rated for rooms at 1 to 40 °C, with feed water between 5 and 35 °C at 0.7 to 8 bar. The condenser blows about 0.71 kW of warm air into the room, which a bar with poor ventilation will notice. For water treatment, fit the 4HC-H single filter ahead of the IM-45CPE-U.
