Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-45PE-F-25 – Self-Contained, Air-cooled, 43 kg/24h, S Cube

The IM-45PE-F-25 makes up to 43 kg of cubes a day and keeps 18 kg of it in its own bin, so it only needs power, water and a drain to start working. Averaged out, the machine turns out about 1.8 kg an hour. At that rate the 18 kg bin takes around 10 hours to rebuild after a busy service.

Which IM-45PE to pick

Hoshizaki sells the IM-45PE in four versions, and this one, the FlexiCUBE, has a built-in drain pump. Its drain pump lifts water 1.5 m and moves it up to 10 m, so a 503 mm wide unit like this does not have to sit over a floor drain. Cube size on the IM-45PE-F-25 is S (25 x 25 x 23 mm), marked by the -25 in the code. If the version does not suit, the same body is sold as IM-45PE-25 (Basic Cube), IM-45PE-U-25 (UltraCUBE) and IM-45PE-E-25 (EliteCUBE). Other cube sizes: IM-45PE-F (L cube, 47 kg a day). Heat released into the room is 0.71 kW at 32 °C ambient. It uses about 220 liters of water a day, or roughly 5.1 liters for every kilo of ice. Its refrigerant is R290 (propane, class A3), 70 g of it, which matters when you decide where the IM-45PE-F-25 goes. Functions on the IM-45PE-F-25 include automated cleaning and internal drain pump.

Where the IM-45PE-F-25 fits

Hoshizaki allows 1 to 40 °C in the room for the IM-45PE-F-25, water at 5 to 35 °C and a supply pressure of 0.7 to 8 bar. Air-cooled, it puts its 0.71 kW of heat straight into the room, so a closed pantry needs some ventilation. Pair it with a 4HC-H single filter; at 43 kg a day that is the size Hoshizaki specifies.
