Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-45PE Overview

The Hoshizaki IM-45PE is a self-contained air-cooled cube ice maker producing up to 47 kg of cubes in 24 hours, with an 18 kg built-in storage bin. In the IM CUBE range it is the Basic Cube and it makes the L cube (28 × 28 × 32 mm), the standard size with no suffix.

Choosing between versions

The same machine is listed as IM-45PE-U (UltraCUBE), IM-45PE-F (FlexiCUBE) and IM-45PE-E (EliteCUBE). Other cube sizes of the IM-45PE: IM-45PE-25, S cube, 43 kg a day. The water cooled version is the IM-45WPE, at 50 kg a day and 0.25 m³ of water a day against 0.11 m³ for the IM-45PE, rejecting 0.44 kW of heat against 0.71 kW.

Performance and connections

The IM-45PE measures 503 × 456 × 840 mm (W × D × H) without legs (for legs add 90-125 mm) and weighs 44 kg net. Electrical consumption is 0.26 kW and heat rejection 0.71 kW at 32 °C ambient and 21 °C water, with 0.11 m³ of water used per 24 hours. The IM-45PE runs on 70 g of R290, GWP 3. R290 is a natural refrigerant classified A3, higher flammability, so the charge belongs in the installation specification. Hoshizaki lists the IM-45PE for single phase 220-240 V 50 Hz, with a voltage tolerance of ±6% and a 5 A circuit breaker. Functions listed by Hoshizaki: automated cleaning.

Marine installation

Hoshizaki gives operating limits of ambient temperatures from 1 to 40 °C, water supply temperatures from 5 to 35 °C and water pressure from 0.7 to 8 bar, which is what the space and the vessel's fresh water system have to meet for the IM-45PE. Being air-cooled, it rejects its heat into the space, so the ventilation of the galley or bar has to take it. For water treatment Hoshizaki pairs it with the 4HC-H single water filter system and its 4HC replacement cartridges. For shipboard use the IM-45PE is quoted against the vessel's own supply, water pressure and space. The figures here are Hoshizaki's published data for the standard unit, and anything that differs on board is agreed at quotation.

Send us the vessel type, the supply voltage and frequency and where the IM-45PE will stand, and we will quote it with the matching water filter.

Questions about the IM-45PE

How much ice does the Hoshizaki IM-45PE make?

Up to 47 kg of cubes in 24 hours, held in a 18 kg built-in bin. Actual output depends on ambient and water temperature.

What supply and water connection does the IM-45PE need?

Electrically the IM-45PE is rated for single phase 220-240 V 50 Hz, with a voltage tolerance of ±6% and a 5 A circuit breaker. Hoshizaki gives operating limits of ambient temperatures from 1 to 40 °C, water supply temperatures from 5 to 35 °C and water pressure from 0.7 to 8 bar, which is what the space and the vessel's fresh water system have to meet for the IM-45PE.

Can the IM-45PE be installed on a ship or yacht?

Yes. We supply it for vessels and confirm the supply voltage and frequency, water pressure, drain and fixing against the vessel at quotation. The published data is for the standard model.
