Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-45WPE-E Overview
Up to 50 kg of cubes every 24 hours, with a 18 kg bin built into the cabinet: that is the short version of the Hoshizaki IM-45WPE-E. That works out to roughly 2.1 kg an hour. At that rate the 18 kg bin takes around 8.6 hours to rebuild after a busy service.
Versions and cube size
As the EliteCUBE version of the IM-45WPE, this machine comes with both the drain pump and UV-C sanitization. Drain position stops being a problem: the IM-45WPE-E pumps its waste water up to 1.5 m high and 10 m away. The UV-C lamp keeps the standing water in the tank treated between cleanings of this 50 kg/day machine. Each cube from the IM-45WPE-E is 28 x 28 x 32 mm (size L), the standard size with no suffix. Other versions of this model: IM-45WPE (Basic Cube), IM-45WPE-U (UltraCUBE) and IM-45WPE-F (FlexiCUBE). Need a different cube? Look at the IM-45WPE-E-25 (S cube, 47 kg a day). Footprint is 503 x 456 mm with a height of 840 mm before legs (add 90-125 mm); net weight is 46 kg. Electrically it needs single-phase 220-240 V 50 Hz, drawing 0.225 kW, within ±6%, on a 5 A breaker. Plan for 0.44 kW of heat into the space at 32 °C. It uses about 250 liters of water a day, or roughly 5 liters for every kilo of ice. Refrigerant is 90 g of flammable R290 (A3), a figure the yard or class surveyor will ask for. Hoshizaki lists automated cleaning, UV-C sanitization and internal drain pump for the IM-45WPE-E.
Fitting it on a vessel
The IM-45WPE-E is rated for rooms at 1 to 40 °C, with feed water between 5 and 35 °C at 0.7 to 8 bar. Water cooling keeps most of the heat out of the room, at the cost of about 250 liters a day from the tanks or watermaker. Hoshizaki matches the IM-45WPE-E with the 4HC-H single filter system.
