Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-65WPE Overview

Up to 62 kg of cubes every 24 hours, with a 26 kg bin built into the cabinet: that is the short version of the Hoshizaki IM-65WPE. That works out to roughly 2.6 kg an hour. An empty 26 kg bin fills in roughly 10 hours at that rate.

Which IM-65WPE to pick

In the IM CUBE family the IM-65WPE is the Basic Cube, which means no drain pump and no UV-C unit. Cubes from the IM-65WPE come out 28 x 28 x 32 mm, which Hoshizaki calls size L, the standard size with no suffix. If the version does not suit, the same body is sold as IM-65WPE-U (UltraCUBE), IM-65WPE-F (FlexiCUBE) and IM-65WPE-E (EliteCUBE). With a different cube it is the IM-65WPE-25 (S cube, 54 kg a day). There is also a air-cooled version, the IM-65PE, rated at 58 kg a day, using 430 liters of water a day against 310 liters here and putting 0.83 kW of heat into the room instead of 0.43 kW.

Power, water and size

It measures 633 x 506 x 840 mm (W x D x H) before legs (add 90-125 mm) and weighs 48 kg empty. Electrically it needs single-phase 220-240 V 50 Hz, drawing 0.28 kW, within ±6%, on a 5 A breaker. Plan for 0.43 kW of heat into the space at 32 °C. It uses about 310 liters of water a day, or roughly 5 liters for every kilo of ice. Its refrigerant is R290 (propane, class A3), 110 g of it, which matters when you decide where the IM-65WPE goes. Hoshizaki lists automated cleaning for the IM-65WPE.

Installation notes

The IM-65WPE is rated for rooms at 1 to 40 °C, with feed water between 5 and 35 °C at 0.7 to 8 bar. The water-cooled condenser suits tight, badly ventilated spaces, but the IM-65WPE needs a steady supply of cooling water, around 310 liters a day in total. Pair it with a 4HC-H single filter; at 62 kg a day that is the size Hoshizaki specifies. Supply, water and fixing for the IM-65WPE are confirmed per vessel when we quote, since the figures above describe Hoshizaki's standard build.
