Hoshizaki Flake Ice Maker FM-300AKE-HC-SB – Modular, Air-cooled, 300 kg/24h

The Hoshizaki FM-300AKE-HC-SB is a modular air-cooled flake ice maker producing up to 300 kg of flake ice in 24 hours. As a modular head it has no bin of its own and sits on a separate storage bin: Hoshizaki pairs the FM-300AKE-HC-SB with the B-140SB, B-210SB, B-340SB; top kits: TK-30 for B-140SB, B-210SB, B340SB (optional, not required), TK-8D for B-210SB, TK-8D + TK18D for B-340SB.

Installation data

The FM-300AKE-HC-SB measures 560 × 700 × 780 mm (W × D × H) and weighs 81 kg net. Electrical consumption is 0.9 kW and heat rejection 1.84 kW at 32 °C ambient and 21 °C water, with 0.3 m³ of water used per 24 hours. The FM-300AKE-HC-SB runs on 90 g of R290, GWP 3. R290 is a natural refrigerant classified A3, higher flammability, so the charge belongs in the installation specification. Hoshizaki lists the FM-300AKE-HC-SB for single phase 220-240 V 50 Hz, with a voltage tolerance of ±6%.

Installing it on a vessel

Hoshizaki gives operating limits of ambient temperatures from 5 to 40 °C, water supply temperatures from 5 to 35 °C and water pressure from 0.5 to 8 bar, which is what the space and the vessel's fresh water system have to meet for the FM-300AKE-HC-SB. Being air-cooled, it rejects its heat into the space, so the ventilation of the galley or bar has to take it. For water treatment Hoshizaki pairs it with the 4HC-H twin water filter system and its 4HC replacement cartridges. For shipboard use the FM-300AKE-HC-SB is quoted against the vessel's own supply, water pressure and space.
