Boat Induction Cooktops

Induction Cooktops on Boats

A boat galley cooks on flat surfaces and wells rather than a line of large appliances, spreading the connected load across several smaller positions on an AC supply from a generator or shore power. Of the 41 marine induction cookers in the catalogue, 16 are listed here for boats. Induction heats only the pan, so far less heat enters an enclosed galley.

Specifying induction cooktops for boats

• Supply: builds are listed at 400 V or 440 V, 12 of them with 60 Hz operation, and the order follows the vessel's own supply rather than the catalogue default.
• Power: 5 kW at the low end, 28 kW at the high end across this list; the total galley load is what the switchboard sees.
• Space: widths from 500 mm to 1,000 mm, checked against the space and the route in through doors and hatches.
• Cookware: induction needs pans with a magnetic base, and MKN modules recognise pans from a 12 cm base diameter.
• Several smaller positions rather than one large appliance, to spread the load on the boat's AC supply.
