Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-130APE – Modular, Air-cooled, 125 kg/24h, L Cube

Hoshizaki rates the modular IM-130APE at 125 kg of cubes per 24 hours, and you pair it with a storage bin sized to the ice needed at the start of service (Hoshizaki lists the B-140SB, B-210SB, B-340SB). That works out to roughly 5.2 kg an hour.

Which IM-130APE to pick

Hoshizaki sells the IM-130APE in four versions, and this one, the Basic Cube, has no drain pump and no UV-C unit. Cube size on the IM-130APE is L (28 x 28 x 32 mm), the standard size with no suffix. If the version does not suit, the same body is sold as IM-130APE-U (UltraCUBE). Need a different cube? Look at the IM-130APE-23 (M cube, 100 kg a day).

Specs worth checking

The cabinet is 560 mm wide, 700 mm deep and 880 mm tall, and weighs 68 kg. Electrically it needs single-phase 220-240 V 50 Hz, drawing 0.58 kW, within ±6%, on a 5 A breaker. Plan for 1.38 kW of heat into the space at 32 °C. It uses about 520 liters of water a day, or roughly 4.2 liters for every kilo of ice. Refrigerant is 130 g of flammable R290 (A3), a figure the yard or class surveyor will ask for. Hoshizaki lists automated cleaning for the IM-130APE.

Fitting it on a vessel

Operating limits for the IM-130APE are 1 to 40 °C ambient, 5 to 35 °C water and 0.7 to 8 bar, so check the space and the fresh water line against those. The condenser blows about 1.38 kW of warm air into the room, which a bar with poor ventilation will notice. For water treatment, fit the 4HC-H twin filter ahead of the IM-130APE.
