Hoshizaki Cube Ice Maker IM-240XPE-U-32 – Modular & Stackable Extension, Air-cooled, 190 kg/24h, XL Cube

The IM-240XPE-U-32 is a modular cube head. It makes up to 190 kg of cubes a day but has no bin of its own, so it is always ordered with a storage bin (Hoshizaki lists the B-340SB). As the extension unit, it goes on top of a matching base unit, so two heads fill a single bin. Spread over a day, it is about 7.9 kg per hour.

Versions and cube size

As the UltraCUBE version of the IM-240XPE, this machine comes with UV-C sanitization of the water tank. The UV-C lamp keeps the standing water in the tank treated between cleanings of this 190 kg/day machine. You get XL cubes, 32 x 32 x 32 mm, at 190 kg a day, marked by the -32 in the code. If the version does not suit, the same body is sold as IM-240XPE-32 (Basic Cube). Need a different cube? Look at the IM-240XPE-U-23 (M cube, 180 kg a day) and IM-240XPE-U (L cube, 210 kg a day). Compare it with the water-cooled IM-240XWPE-U-32, which makes 190 kg a day, using 890 liters of water a day against 530 liters here and putting 1.47 kW of heat into the room instead of 2.25 kW.

Specs worth checking

It measures 1,084 x 700 x 500 mm (W x D x H) and weighs 71 kg empty. Electrically it needs single-phase 220-240 V 50 Hz, drawing 0.865 kW, within ±6%, on a 5 A breaker. Plan for 2.25 kW of heat into the space at 32 °C. Water consumption comes to 530 liters per 24 hours, or roughly 2.8 liters for every kilo of ice. Refrigerant is 147 g of flammable R290 (A3), a figure the yard or class surveyor will ask for. On the control side the IM-240XPE-U-32 gives you automated cleaning and UV-C sanitization.

Fitting it on a vessel

Keep the room around the IM-240XPE-U-32 between 1 and 40 °C and the incoming water between 5 and 35 °C at 0.7 to 8 bar. The condenser blows about 2.25 kW of warm air into the room, which a bar with poor ventilation will notice. For water treatment, fit the 4HC-H twin filter ahead of the IM-240XPE-U-32. For mounting the IM-240XPE-U-32 on a bin, Hoshizaki lists TK-48 for B-340SB (optional, not required), TK-IMD2 for B-340SB.
